And any AD that hires Al Golden should resign immediately.

There are many in Lincoln who wishes he would..

      • I'm watching Oregon vs ASU, this is ridiculous, absolutely terrible defense and special teams. One commercial break came back and an Oregon player was already running a kickoff from the endzone (?) at his own 30 yardline all the way for a TD.

Funny how my perspective has changed over the last 10/15 years on college football. Not sure what year watching Michigan/Ohio State at a Noon (three yards in a cloud of dust) they had Florida State vs Florida (fun and gun) game that night and it seemed so exciting.

This was probably the start of my thinking why I originally thought the John L hire for MSU was very good and he would eventually turns Sparty around...wrong! ....and later DickRod was a home run hire.

ESPN missed action because they fucked up a commercial break? Gee, what a shock.

Somebody remind me why Fox is so much worse at covering football.

          • Speaking of ESPN, does anyone know if Spielman was axed in the recent layoffs?
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

                • Personally I like Chris Spielman and I like him as a color guy, Chris Fowler is terrible at calling play by play, half the time he doesn't see what happens or he's calling about 15 seconds after the play. Why he's doing the primetime games is beyond me, I'll take "You are looking live" Brent over him any day.

                  • Verne Lundquist is way worse and he still continues to get major games in almost all sports. Really bad.

                    • Brandstatter is the worst worst worst play by play guy ever. I defy anyone to listen to the radio broadcast and tell me what is going on.

Because ESPN. You don't tune into ESPN because you want to see great football. You tune in because you want to see Chris Fowler. So, that's why Chris Fowler does the most important game of the week instead of far more deserving play-by-play guys who toil in relative obscurity (e.g. Joe Tessitore).

Yes, he is horrendous. A shining example of why a color guy rarely has any business whatsoever doing PxP. You need a guy with rare talent for that job.

                          Yeah, he isn't good.

I always have issues with our guy George Blaha. He's a good broadcaster but he's much better as a basketball announcer. Blaha never gives the score. Sometimes you will listen for minutes and never hear the score. But you cannot get worse than Jason Straithorn as a color guy.

                          • I would not have guessed that. Blaha for basketball is a real pro -- he gets you the information you're looking for, in that sense.

Brandsttater is terrible. He and Beckman cried about refs worse than humanly possible. Brandstatter does that on the Lions games too. Blaha is solid, but you're right, better on hoops. And Straihorn is really bad. Expect them to be homers, but dude is over the top. Even though he's an OSU guy, I think Spielman is one of the best color guys in the biz.

When Spielman calls a Michigan game it's obvious that he sees the game as football first, and not through the prism of the rivalry. He likes what he sees this year and wants to see more, it seems.
