My response was entirely appropriate and directly in response to Riley-Jackson. My apologies for using facts and objective evidence. How childish of me.
In the end, 142-26 and 3 national titles are rarefied objective numbers. 11 titles is unprecedented. 11 titles and, to be honest, probably 1 or 2 teams that underachieved in the playoffs (as opposed to Riley's 5-7). Again, objective numbers.

We mentioned their huge drop-off in attendance a few months ago. Very bad.
Still, that home schedule wasn't that bad. Michigan State was the second best team in the league. Wisconsin is always good. Iowa's capable if boring. Northwestern's under three hours away. Should have been possible to get at least 40,000 people to one of those. The MSU game just barely topped 40,000Comment

Purdue doesn't have the luxury of something like Northwestern does where you have opponent alumni to fill up the stadium. My dad went to Purdue, he grew up an hour south of it. I've been to Lafayette many times, it is not a destination point.Comment

#3 program in a state with 5mil people. States like Missouri, Maryland, New Jersey, Minnesota, Wisconsin all have one program in the state. Even local fans are more likely to be fans of Notre Dame, Indiana and as likely to be fans of Michigan, Ohio State.Comment
