  • That's what I'm trying to figure out. Who wants them??

    • I don't think Missouri would've gotten this far without the SEC giving them a hint they'd get accepted.

      • Eastern beat Western to go to 5-3 on the year. That's the most wins they've had in a season since 1995.

        • That's a surprising outcome. Eastern hasn't beaten Western in like, decades or something like that ...

Spend tons of money on coaches, facilities, and recruiting (i.e. the recruits themselves) and be located someplace near bunches of talent. This is the SEC formula, and they are their way to six straight national titles.

The only outliers right now are Wisconsin- due soley to their ability to recruit Russell Wilson- Oregon and Boise, who have built niches for themselves, and possibly Oklahoma State...although I think their bubble is going to burst for lack of defense. It seems like when I was a kid there were a lot more programs like that, including my beloved Nebraska. Its appears on the surface that the NCAA's parity has succeeded in kneecapping those programs, and allowing a select few to pull ahead. The parity has grown between these 2nd-tier programs and those below them while those possessing the characteristics I mentioned initially have grown stronger in relation.

                • Boise can thank the WAC/MWC for their most all of their success, they play a couple tough games (top 35 type teams) a year, if that...

Oregon fits all your criteria except being located near talent. Though if the rumblings are true, they buy some of their best talent with shady recruiting.

                          • Uh Jamie I would think that most people on this list serve have learned the difference between allegations and establishing proof of those allegations. But thanks for pointing out that if the NCAA says it's so it must be true. Auburn certainly appreciates this distinction.

                            • I also expect most people here to know the difference between the credibility of a media report and what that implies, and that of a poster on a fan forum.

I suggest that the SEC (with the assumed addition of Missouri) do what it takes to add enough additional teams so as to set up a multiple-division conference.

                                Why?

To make it easier to name their divisions (like the Big Ten did with the Leaders and Legends divisions!). Just think about it---the SEC already has almost enough teams with the Tiger nickname (Auburn, LSU, and now Missouri) to have an all-Tiger division. All they have to now do is add Clemson, and maybe even Grambling and/or Jackson State and/or Princeton and/or Memphis State and/or Texas Southern and/or Tennessee State and/or...
