Which BIG School? osu is absolutely the second best team right now until they prove they can beat Bama. They're in based on body of work. Then what? The PSU/Wisky winner? Fuck that. Both those teams lost head to head v. M. Does anyone think either of those teams are #3 and #4?

This is all about the Committee trying to game their pics for the FF. It's not about who's the best four right now but rather, it's about making their final picks defensible. By making the last weekend about selection, best performances wins a spot in the FF.

Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

    • Here's the thing with Oklahoma vs Washington -- if Oklahoma had played Washington OoC schedule, they'd be 11-0 and probably #2 -- maybe #3. If Washington had played at Houston and against OSU or even, say, at Michigan (like Colorado), then they very well may have 1 more loss and be out of it.

The CFP shit on Baylor when it came down to Baylor/TCU vs Ohio State. They were, in part, lucky that OSU made it an easy decision. BUT, I don't think they were inclined to reward Baylor knowing that, e.g., had OSU played that OoC schedule they would have been undefeated.

The other thing about Washington is that they have little to speak of in terms of quality wins. Yeah, they beat Utah on the road. Ok. They railed Stanford when Stanford had it's 5th string secondary in the game. And Wazzu sucks. SUCKS. I'm not at all convinced that the P12 is any better than the B12.

So, do you reward Washington's bullshit OoC schedule?

On the flip side of the OSU-OU game is OSU. It's clear OSU is getting a huge push from that win. So, maybe the committee says if you win those type of non-conference games it might help separate you from a school you tied with for the division title. I dunno.

I think UW is probably better than OU, but man, there's something about that OoC stuff that bothers me.

Clemson, at least, went on the road to Auburn. And the play South Carolina every year -- granted, they suck -- but they're not RUTGERS.

So, I'd be fine if, e.g., Wisky went ahead of Washington and maybe even OU

      • It has to be OSU at this point. Talent is right when he points out those ground-out wins, i.e. OT at night in Camp Randall. That's very persuasive.

        • Wisky could plausibly go ahead of M. It was a 7 point game at AA. M was the better team, but not definitively so like against PSU. So, maybe.

I still think it's crystal clear that OSU and M are the two best teams in the B10.

and there is the chaos.. if PSU wins, they'd have a better win resume than Michigan, but Michigan has the head to head. Wisky wins and Michigan has the head to head and the better win resume. So do you take 2 teams out of the BIG, neither of which made it to the conference championship game? Probably, if it's Wisky. If it's PSU, I bet there will be pressure to take the BIG winner. Not saying that is right, just my opinion of what will happen.

The committee has to be praying for no upsets.

              • My mistake. OSU should go to the Music City Bowl, then.

                    • M and OSU are both top 4. But it's not the best 4 teams. It's some nebulous witch's brew of the 4 "most deserving" teams. In that world, if Washington wins out they are in.

                        • Just keep in mind, the only thing Neuheisel was talking about in the scheme I presented above was what is the best way for the committee to make their FF selection defensible.

Neuheisal is really a smart guy (for lawyer - heh). He is always thinking outside the box and way ahead of most. He's arguing that you make the teams who arguably can make a case for a FF, play into the 3/4 spots by winning their CCGs. That's Wisky/PSU, CU/Washington and Clemson/VaTech.

I think Clemson is the most likely to score an impressive win v. VaTech. Their D is a bad match-up for VaTech's O and Watson will inevitably deliver points. OK, they just played in. Wisky/PSU turns out 10/7 for either team? Meh ..... not better than M who beat them both. Not in. CU beats U-Dub? Cu lost to M. U-Dub wins, obviously in along with Clemson. M is out. This is an entirely defensible selection and that's the goal. You leave M right where they were last week at #3, everyone else complains, the Committee could give a shit because they set themselves up to make a defensible selection with their last pics - the only ones that matter.

lol. One of the best small bowls I have gone to. Had the pleasure of seeing a Mike Shula coached team blow a 4th quarter win against the mighty Gophers.
