Yes you take them. If you can't win your conference, you don't deserve a shot at the National Championship.

Well, there's precedent. They Committee didn't take the best team in the country last season.
This season, though, OSU would have a considerably better set of wins.
If you take the conference champion over all, then just say it. Say you'll take the 4 best conference champions.
And if OSU doesn't go ahead of OU, then I'm not sure what the point of that game is. I'm not sure of what the point of any OoC game is.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?

Taking conference champs puts the regular season importance on the conference schedule and off of the non-con sched.
If you want to see good OOC games the will truly allow us to compare conferences this is the only way to go. Make is so OOC loses don't hurt your chancesI feel like I am watching the destruction of our democracy while my neighbors and friends cheer it on

OSU, if they win out, is in... regardless. Big name school, big draw, will travel well.. those things also matter.
People will be upset about a non conference champion getting in, but that noise will disappear when OSU wins it allGrammar... The difference between feeling your nuts and feeling you're nuts.

It doesn't matter.
When circumstances at the margins indicate that teams are comparable, then the following criteria must
be considered:
Championships won
Strength of schedule
Head-to-head competition (if it occurred)
Comparative outcomes of common opponents (without incenting margin of victory)I feel like I am watching the destruction of our democracy while my neighbors and friends cheer it on

I see almost every 2-loss P5 champ in over any 1-loss team (Louisville or Ohio State)...
ACC: Clemson & Louisville... Clemson needs to win ACC CG (vs VT) which shouldn't be an issue but they needed help to beat NC State too. Louisville will need chaos to have a chance as the many conference champs will have quality wins that'll move them up above them plus they are already behind Ohio State as "at-large" 1-loss... Chaos (3-loss conference champs) really helps Ohio State & Louisville's CFP chances...
Big XII: Oklahoma, WVU & oOSU... 2 games left vs each other, winner of these games (Oklahoma vs WVU then Oklahoma vs OSU) will rise rankings dramatically as they earn quality wins... Whoever wins Big XII still probably doesn't make CFP...
B1G: This is really wide open with The game deciding who goes to Indy to play Wisconsin... Wisconsin, Penn State very much involved as they'll rise dramatically with quality win in B1G CG ... No, I don't think 1-loss OSU gets invite over a 2-loss conference champ when OSU beats M then winner of B1G CG (PSU vs Wisconsin) going to CFP. Winning your conference is nearly a requirement for CFP committee, they'll choose pretty much any P5 conference champion before a 1-loss team...
Pac 12: Washington, Utah, Colorado & WSU... Colorado plays Utah, Washington plays WSU and Colorado plays WSU... Whoever wins out imo is in...
SEC: Bama is in... Bama can even lose Iron Bowl (Auburn) or lose SEC CG (Florida)... They are only 1-loss non conference champ that can earn spot in CFP but I'm no fan of either Auburn or Florida (could lose 2-3 more) so Bama stays undefeated. SEC will be in contracted Cotton Bowl NY6 bowl but no other... SEC loses spot in Orange Bowl to B1G!

I think in a four team playoff, The Committee can and should take "the best" teams and there are some decent ways of determining that.
Your argument, GVT, of giving conference champs auto bids just does not compute in a 4 team play-off with 5 Power conferences. There has to be some reasonable latitude given to the committee and they have that.Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

We're gonna have to disagree. If Washinton or OU were in the B1G, they wouldn't be conference champs. I want the best 4 teams in a limited playoff.
If the playoff is expanded to 6 or 8 teams, and you want to mandate a conference championship for the first 5 spots, okay. But sometimes the best two teams are in one conference. Leaving one of those best teams out because a worse team played in a weaker conference is not optimal, imo."The problem with quotes on the Internet is that it is sometimes hard to verify their authenticity." -Abraham Lincoln

Welp, hopefully we'll find out what happens if OSU wins out. I still think M is better and will win. But if OSU survives EL and then HARBAUGH, we'll find out.
I'd really like to see USC get into the P12 CG, but it's looking like Colorado (who has zero quality wins).Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?
