  • I think Harbaugh now technically makes more if you look at last year and don't include Nick's NC bonus. That's what I heard, anyway.

    • Well, that's just fair market.

          • That seems about right. I didn't realize M paid $2M more for its staff than OSU did for its staff, but that seems about right.

            • $2m? Unless I am reading that wrong it looks more like $200k.

              • Total coaching staff, including HC. Sorry. It's actually about $1.5M.

                • Ahh. Yes. The staff pay alone is ballpark. Bama's went down with the exit of Kirby and Mel Tucker this year. Of course, that left room for Sark!

                  • saw a few posts this morning suggesting that down in Austin, coach Strong was told he would be let go at the end of the season.

Doesn't seem like the thing to do as an AD, but...

                    • Just days after Texas athletic director Mike Perrin said coach Charlie Strong’s program would need evaluation but not immediate wholesale changes, Sports Illustrated is reporting that Strong will be out as the Longhorns’ coach at the end of the season. Texas lost 49-31 to Oklahoma State last weekend and is currently 2-2. It seems ridiculous if Texas has indeed decided to part ways with Strong, waiting until the end of the season, especially with at least eight games remaining.

                      SI is now reporting it

                      • Still paying Mattison huge bucks as a 'coordinator'. Harbaugh hired some guys away from NFL jobs, we pay top dollar for coordinators and coaches and it's paying off.

                        • Strong not so strong anymore. Ayeeeee. I really thought he'd right that ship and reel in some big time recruits.

Tom Herman is looking really pretty right now. LSU, Texas, USC, Oregon, perhaps Notre Dame and Oklahoma all vying for his services. Depending on what happens with the OU/Texas game, Bob Stoops could be on the hot seat. So many teams and only one Tom Herman. It's nice to root for a team with a solid HC.

                          • I hate it, too. I think Strong is a good guy. He has not been a dynamic agent of positive change with the Horns, though.

I like Charlie Strong too. Attributing pronouncements that Strong is out after this season to Texas's AD, if that's what happened, is really bad form. Nothing I think our BIG12 posters here wouldn't expect from these clowns.

Texas is probably in the worst position of all the programs who will be looking for new HCs this go around. That's why making Strong's likely departure public is just stupid. What's the fall back if top candidates say no thanks?
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

                              • The Tom Herman sweepstakes, man. Schools have to throw their hats in early. Texas, I'm sure, thinks they'll get him. I think he'd pick UT.

What's really funny/shady is that Herman gets a $5M bonus if Houston goes to the B12. And guess what has sort of stalled in the last two weeks? -- B12 Expansion. Heh.
