    • Also, a banner year for the South Alabama Jaguars. After beating Mississippi State in Starkville early in the year, they beat 19th ranked San Diego State 42-24 yesterday. South Alabama is coached by Joey Jones, a former WR for Alabama under Bryant.

Great underdog story for a school that's only had a program a short amount of time.

It would not shock me to see Joey Jones get a better job in the next year or two. He was a very successful HS coach in Alabama for many years. After a one-year stop with Division III Birmingham-Southern, he left for the brand new FCS team at South Alabama in 2009. After 3 seasons in FCS, they transitioned to FBS. He is 45-37 at South Alabama now, which is pretty good considering.

          • As a fan of both the Lions and the University of Georgia, I can honestly say that if I never see a Hail Mary again, that will be just fine with me.

              That Georgia game was gut-wrenching.

Sorry about that Froot. Thought for sure that was McDowell lining up outside. In any event, he's good at penetration.
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

                • When we played him in high school he played DE. When he transferred to Southfield he became primarily a DT.

Yeah, but better days ae ahead with Georgia. Eason is the real deal. In any case, the team is a lot of fun to watch.

that's easy ... after we have a close game with Rutgers next week, Hanni will compare that to O-State's blowout.

In this case, he will be right, as O-state is likely significantly better than us.

                        • I don't think anyone in the country is significantly better than us... Our defense will keep us in any game. There are teams that look better by virtue of being more balanced, though.

Hmmm. Not sure I get that. A team is either better than M or it's not. I also have issues with "better." What does that mean?

                            • The Tom Herman bidding war is going to be phenomenal. He may end up making more than The Nick! -- I mean, assuming the obvious -- Charlie Strong is dead as fried chicken at UT.
