    • I assumed the resentment was mostly from their 68 losses in football to us.

Exactly. I grew up in Lansing, 75% of my friends are Spartys and not 1, zero, none have ever mentioned whatever conference bullshit froot is talking about.

          • That's your problem, it's an actual thing, we have a pretty good rivalry with Notre Dame but it isn't bitter. You are the one bringing up these fans rooting for ND against Michigan as some black mark. I'm giving you the backstory.

            • A backstory that is 70+ years old and isn't relevant to those under said age.

              • How the fuck is it my problem? I don't give a shit. And my friends who root against Michigan every game don't give a shit about whatever Big 10 bullshit you're talking about.

It's the old chip on the shoulder MSU thing, they will always have a fierce inferiority complex, even when they have a good stretch like the last few years.

They had a ref/analyst on one of the recap segments...paraphrasing here (and hopefully reasonably correct) There are situations in which, following a penalty, an untimed down is awarded and some in which an untimed down is not awarded. In this instance, the penalty was a live ball penalty that resulted in a loss of down. The loss of down is the key according to the ref/analyst and because the play (penalty) resulted in the loss of down (at the end of the game) an untimed down is not awarded. The officiating crew missed that. Ref/analyst also said that other than a mea culpa there is nothing that can be done to reverse the results of the game. Will try to add a link.

                    • And you can't go and "make right" a game. If you do on that play, do you also go and revisit the missed egregious block-in-the-back that led to a score in the third? Missed hold? How about a missed targeting? O-Lineman in the neutral zone before the snap and the long TD pass?

                        • They've made an effort to schedule tougher opponents and it shows.

The difference in CMU's game is that you are merely nullifying a play after the game was actually over. You aren't going back into a game and correcting an error.

                            • It's still reversing a bad call by the refs during the game to change the outcome. It just can't be done. Bama had one of these a few years back in OT vs Arkansas. The crew was suspended but they didn't change the outcome.

                              • I like the way Utah plays defense. That BYU/UTAH game, despite all the turnovers, was a great game to watch. I don't think Utah can win their division (QB makes some bad decisions at times), but they'll be near the top...
