The ticker on ABC says that CMU's game winner against Okie State wasn't legitimate but they are still showing that CMU won. Did the officials commit a huge screwup?

I used to until I saw MSU fans rooting for Notre Dame over Michigan. Now I never pull for MSU no matter what.

It's not going to happen, but I'd prefer to see Sparty unbeaten when we play them as we'll look better for having beaten a better team. Sparty will probably lose to at least one of Wisconsin &/or Notre Dame before we play them.

I'll never root for Penn State, I can't stand that program and felt that way before the scandal.

I'm not sure why The Oracle would get mad at rooting for ND over Michigan. There's a long history as Notre Dame would play us when Michigan was trying to keep the Spartans out of the Big Ten.

So apparently the refs really did screw up the end of the Okie State/CMU game. Since it was an untimed down, I wonder if the game can be retroactively rewarded to Okie State?

In the early 1950s the Spartans were MSC -- Michigan State College. They resented this designation (which we UMers emphasized and gloated over) and they finally prevailed on the B10 institutions to accept their name change to M.S. University (MSU). M fans were really upset about this. It was a big deal at the time. A lot of the institutional resentment evolved at that time. And when Biggie Munn arrived (formerly on Crisler's staff) he really put them on the map. They had an awesome program in the 1960's.
