Bad hire for Oregon. Bad fit. Hoke is not an Xs and Os genius, which is what a program like Oregon needs with the head coach being a glorified offensive coordinator. Hoke would be a great fit at a place like Alabama where he can be a recruiter and a cheerleader.

It's not as if Oregon was suddenly going to play defense. Few others in the conference are either. I think it's a decent fit. Not that I would have hired him, but I can see why.

I dunno. They have had at least an average defense some of the past few years. Some of their championship year defenses seemed okay. I don't think that Hoke will make a very good DC anywhere, but especially where you have an offensively-minded "players' coach", which is what Helfrich strikes me as.

With that, can Hoke make it worse?
A lot of uncertainty.
But yes, perhaps Oregon gets a couple highly rated recruits with Hoke.
The Oregon D-Line might get better with Hoke. That's the one thing he can coach.

LOL! Yep. That pretty much sums it up. That kid will have to suck it up at Memphis. So Ole Miss has the #4 recruiting class for 2016? They must have a fantastic engineering program!!
