  • I swear that earlier this year Northwestern announced, practically on the same day, that they couldn't possibly afford to pay players and also that they were building a $200-$300 million indoor football practice facility on the lakefront, complete with new student gym.

But yeah, plenty of ways to find the money to build volleyball and tennis their own facility and gyms, but raising the money to pay football players an extra $5000 a year is simply unfeasible.

            • Most will not care, but there actually is a CFB game tomorrow: Eastern Washington vs Sam Houston State at 3:30 on ESPN. These are two of the best programs in FCS currently, if you are really eager to watch a game.

                  • Ticket sales for shitty OOC "tax" games are struggling...people can watch on TV, or view highlights on the internet within hours in lieu of overpaying to sit in the heat for a staged "contest" against Tomatcan U. Michigan won't have problems selling Penn State tickets.

At some point the cost of all this TV money and the increased access it provides is going to force market changes; better games or lower prices.

                    • The ubiquitousness of TV predates shitty ticket sales. Every Michigan game since late 1994 has been available on TV. Every single one.

ADs need to learn that athletic programs have fans.

                              Businesses have customers.
