  • Bama is loaded at RB and imo Dee wasn't a good fit for that offense. The biggest x-factor in recruiting imo is 'effort.' Guys who live football are going to develop far more than someone who just shows up when he has to...

That's why teams of 2 & 3-stars beat teams of 3 & 4 stars. Coaches that can get his best talent to buy-in is going to exceed his recruiting rankings.

    • Purdue isn't one of those teams. They have lived off of 2&3 stars since 2009.

      • Hart going to Alabama was a surprise and a bad choice. I can't blame him for not coming to Michigan, but Auburn would have been a much better choice.

Dee Hart had a major knee injury and never regained his quickness. They played him on special teams and even tried to convert him to DB, but he wasn't going to get to keep his scholarship this year.

          • Unaware of the injury but recruiting talent is still vitally important, putting all your chips into one 5-star isn't wise. That's why Saban signs 10+ extra guys every year, not every top 100 overall recruit works out, for one reason or another.

            • Louisville Commit Arrested After Allegedly Impregnating His Cousin

              Expand
Sharieff Rhaheed-Muhammad, a Florida HS linebacker who recently committed to Louisville, was arrested yesterday and charged with a felony count of lewd lascivious behavior. He's accused of fathering a child with his 14-year-old cousin, who later got an abortion.
The girl said Rhaheed-Muhammad, a three-star recruit from Fort Pierce (Fla.) Central High School, did not force himself on her and that "it just happened." According to the police report, he tried again later and she refused.
After she told her mother, the pregnancy was aborted in November. Rhaheed-Muhammad, 17, refused to provide a DNA sample. So one was obtained via a search warrant at his school, and it showed a nearly 100 percent chance that he was the father.
In a statement to WPTV, Louisville said coach Bobby Petrino "is aware of the situation."

                    • Excellent news ...... now the SEC fans will have to deal with him. The last time I didn't mute him while struggling through an ABC telecast of an M football game was, .... well ..... never.

                      Good riddance, windbag.
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

ESPN can really put a smile on this old fart's face if they will put Lou Holtz out of his misery .. and take Mark May with him....

                        • Between 2014 and 2019, Baylor has just two non-conference games scheduled against programs from the five power conferences: a home-and-home with Duke in 2017 and 2018.

                          Baylor's future non-conference schedules:

                          2014 - smu, Lamar, rice
2015 - northwestern state, smu, rice
                          2016 - smu, rice
                          2017 - smu, utsa, duke
                          2018 - utsa, duke, smu
2019 - University of the Incarnate Word (seriously), utsa, rice

yet, the will be rewarded for this schedule..

                          • Northwestern players get union vote

                            Updated: March 26, 2014, 3:30 PM ET

                            By Brian Bennett | ESPN.com

In a potentially game-changing moment for college athletics, the Chicago district of the National Labor Relations Board ruled on Wednesday that Northwestern football players qualify as employees and can unionize.

NLRB regional director Peter Sung Ohr cited the players' time commitment to their sport and that their scholarships were tied directly to their performance as reasons for granting them union rights.

Ohr wrote in his ruling that Wildcats players "fall squarely within the [National Labor Relations] Act's broad definition of 'employee' when one considers the common law definition of 'employee.'"

Ohr ruled that Northwestern players can hold an election on whether they want to be represented by the College Athletes Players Association, which brought the case to the NLRB along with former Wildcats quarterback Kain Colter and the United Steelworkers Union.

Northwestern issued a statement shortly after the ruling saying it would appeal to the full NLRB in Washington.

"While we respect the NLRB process and the regional director's opinion, we disagree with it," the statement read. "Northwestern believes strongly that our student-athletes are not employees, but students. Unionization and collective bargaining are not the appropriate methods to address the concerns raised by student-athletes."

CAPA supporters, meanwhile, celebrated the news. Colter tweeted: "This is a HUGE win for ALL college athletes!"
