I caught the end of that game. I thought it was mildly amusing that Brent Musberger was gushing over Ed Orgeron's 4th down gamble, which, while it was a good call, was only possible after USC committed what looked to me like an obvious pass interference penalty, got away with it, got an interception because of it, and even got the clueless official to throw a flag on the Stanford receiver for coming back in bounds to touch the ball.
I know that sounds like sour grapes. I don't mean it that way. I admire how Stanford plays, but they have their limitations-- if their defense isn't dominant, their offense doesn't make enough big plays to give them much breathing room, and they get caught in a one-score game. It caught up with them against Utah, and it caught up with them again tonight. I just thought that was a case of the announcing team missing a very relevant point.
