With Manziel, I feel pretty confident that he would easily be convicted by a jury in a criminal proceeding.

    • Correct, Hanni. The circumstantial evidence is compelling.

That said, if the dealer says I never paid him and Manziel says I was never paid, I'm not sure he would be convicted. It's akin to a drug bust, right, where they need to put the money and drugs together. If I learned anything from The Wire, it's that young hoppers crew up to very distinctly separate the process.

Of course, in a criminal proceeding the DA could likely work back on the memorabilia dealer, identify a cash withdrawal and ask where the money went.
Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?
      Brady Hoke: You know.....not....good.

They would also have the individual/individuals who originally leaked the info up on the stand with their right hand in the air.

        • I'm actually thinking of the movie Scarface, where Tony Montana is begging his lawyer to get him cleared of all charges, and his lawyer responds...

Tony, the law has to prove beyond a reasonable doubt. I'm an expert at raising that doubt. But when you've got a million three of undeclared dollars staring into a videotape camera, honey baby, it's hard to convince a jury you found it in a Taxi Cab.
The NCAA just bought the taxicab story.

          • I still can't believe Penn State acquiesced to this bullshit institution.

That's because you are an inferior creature. Even at PSU where some horrible, horrible things happened, people have a conscience in the end. They tore down the statue. With you people in Columbus, however, there is nothing of that sort. No sense of right and wrong; no desire to like what you see when you look in the mirror in the morning. Were the shoe on the other foot, you people probably would have painted the statue gold. When Oscar Wilde said that “America is the only country that went from barbarism to decadence without civilization in between,” it's easy to think of the football program run by the criminals in your state as emblematic.

            • I like the taxicab analogy, Hanni. I still think it's closer to a drug deal, but regardless, we know what happened.

              Dull, Hack.

                          • Hawaii just got a safety 3-2 SC in the second - Im so glad CBS has pick up these late games, the announcers keep calling Hawaii the Rainbow Warriors?? At first I through it was just a slip, but they kept calling them that over and over, so I looked it up. Hawaii is back to being the 'Rainbow Warriors' this year after dropping 'Rainbow' in 2000

Keep up the good work Lane...

I was thinking that Akron would probably be our worst opponent this year but that might not be the case.
