it would be better for Manziel to have one of those moments where he realizes he has a problem, admit his actions haven't been good and move forward. Right now, he doesn't think there is an issue... hence, it'll get worse and worse

WVU Player Commits Robbery In Team-Issued Sweatpants, Gets Arrested
When robbing someone, make sure your victim can't identify you by your football team number plastered on your pants.
West Virginia defensive lineman Korey Harris was arrested Friday for first-degree armed robbery that allegedly occurred in Morgantown on July 12. Harris and two other men broke into a home and held two victims at gunpoint. It presumably didn't take long to catch Harris, as one of the victims saw the number 96 on Harris's team-issued sweatpants and figured it out.
After the university was informed, Harris was dismissed from the Mountaineers.Benny Blades~"If you break down this team man for man, we have talent to compare with any team."

"We're 1-11 and picked by everybody to finish last in the league, and that's justifiable," Weis said. "If I were you, I'd pick us in the same spot. We've given you no evidence or no reason to be picked anywhere other than that."
However, perhaps his most interesting comment, which drew laughs across the conference room at the Omni Hotel in Dallas, was about how Weis' pitch to recruits who ask him about playing time.
"Have you looked at that pile of crap out there?" Weis said. "Have you taken a look at that? So if you don't think you can play here, where do you think you can play? It's a pretty simple approach."Grammar... The difference between feeling your nuts and feeling you're nuts.

2 hours ago ? By BRIAN CHRISTOPHERSON / Lincoln Journal Star
One of the main storylines in Chicago over the next two days will be what Jim Delany says, or doesn't say, about the possibility of the BCS conferences forming their own division and potentially separating from some of the "have nots" of college football.
"Have nots" is cruel and I hesitate to use it.
But in plain terms, that is what this discussion is about here: The "haves" and the "have nots," and whether it's time to part ways.
If you missed it yesterday, Big 12 commish Bob Bowlsby seemed to strongly suggest they should, stopping a breath short of flat out declaring it.
?We've made it too easy to get into Division I and too easy to stay there,? Bowlsby said. "Northern Iowa and Texas aren't much alike."
Here's a recap from Dennis Dodd of CBSSports.
Wrote Dodd: BCS leagues' frustration has crystallized lately around the stipend issue. The BCS schools favor paying players, but the legislation has been slowed by the concerns of smaller schools that can't afford such an expenditure.
The last time there was such upheaval in Division I football was 1978, when 250 or schools broke off from the highest level and became Division I-AA (currently FCS). To be clear, Bowlsby wasn't necessarily talking about breaking away from the NCAA, but basically forming a new division.
"It will surprise me if they [BCS conferences] don't get what they want," Karl Benson, the Sun Belt commissioner, told Dodd.
And if it happens?
"The other five conferences will have to decide at what level we can afford to participate in it," Benson added.
As far as the BCS conference commissioners are said, Bowlsby also said there seemed to be "unanimity" among them on the subject.
I'm sure there is, otherwise Bowlsby wouldn't have dared gone as far as he did.
My hunch is he was just warming up the microphone for Big Ten commish Jim Delany, who probably sits just behind the SEC's Mike Slive as far as powerful voices in college athletics go.
Watch it close when Delany takes the stand. How far will he go?
Sipple and I will keep updating the HuskerExtra site on that subject and everything Huskers when media days begins in Chicago tomorrow.

“We've made it too easy to get into Division I and too easy to stay there,” Bowlsby said. "Northern Iowa and Texas aren't much alike."
This is exactly right IMO, although I do believe that separating by conference affiliation is a slippery slope to step onto. Today its Northern Iowa that can’t keep up, but as the scale increases over the years (And it will) it might become Iowa State or Northwestern. What then?
JMO, but if a new division is required its not at the top, but in between FBS and FCS.

If it's any consolation, I think Nebraska would probably dominate 1B, though I would expect usurpers like Boston College, Northern Illinois, Louisiana Tech and Wazzu to push them every now and again.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?
Brady Hoke: You know.....not....good.

I'd like to see what they do with English futbol.
Say there's 100 teams to keep the math simple. Create 10 conferences of 10 teams each. Each team plays every other team in conference. Use computer rankings, poll results of some kind to put best ten teams in first conference, next ten in second one, and so on. At the end of every year, best two teams in each conference go up a conference and bottom two teams in each conference go down. Steady state, you'll have everybody playing at their peer level. Better competition. Big boys will sort to the top and small fry will settle to the bottom. NC would be playoffs of some kind in top conference.
Never happen though. Travel would be a problem. And the whining over traditional rivalries would be unbearable.
