  • The SEC's moves are limited. They get into Virginia and NC to finish out the entire Confederacy. That leaves them with VT/UVa and NCS/UNC. They would prefer, I think, VT and UNC. They will take, I think, VT and NCS. IMO, the SEC would take UNC and either Virginia team yesterday. IMO, UNC will pass on the SEC and go the B10.

The thing is that to most ACC schools, the B10 is the far more attractive offer. Clemson and VT probably prefer the SEC. But that's irrelevant b/c the B10 wouldn't touch either school.

Of the schools the B10 would take, all of them would pick the B10 over the SEC in a heartbeat, IMO, with UNC maybe taking several heartbeats.

Anyway, I remain really confident that the B10 will go beyond 14 and that the B10 will get who it wants from the ACC.

    • I can't imagine sticking at 14. Divisions of 7 are extremely awkward to schedule. And there's no way Rutgers was the last one in the door for our lifetimes.

      • With the off-season approaching the blathersphere will take up expansion with earnest. In the past few days I have seen a lot of chatter revolving around UNC, UVA, and GT again, but nothing definite or leading me to believe that something is imminent.

        • Maybe this could also have a secondary purpose to eliminate the hiding places for Notre Dame, so that they will have no choice but to come into the B1G?

I mean, the Big East is gone, .. and if the B1G snatches UNC and VA, nothing good will be left of the ACC. I doubt that ND wants any part of being in the SEC, so that would leave them with the Big 12 or the PAC 12, or staying independent.

          Just a thought ...

The old adage "Where there's smoke, there's fire" is certainly applicable today as MW Connection has been able to confirm reports that surfaced as Internet rumors regarding the return of BYU to the MWC - plus debunking and clarifications. Oh my!

              • I can see the NCAA eventually agreeing to soften the sanctions in order to settle out of court.

Or, they could hire even more expensive lawyers, and tie the thing up in the courts for about 20 years ...

Absolutely agree ...... Once the structure of the super conferences settles in, the NCAA is DOA.

                      Good.

How do you see the structure of the b-ball tournament going down, talent?

On the PA NCAA suit ....... I saw a very neg. piece on this taking the governor to task in the NYT. I thought it missed the point entirely.

There is no question that the NCAA abandoned its own procedures in slamming PSU. The issue is going to be whether or not the courts take it up. There is precedent that they won't. Too bad.

While what went down w/Sandusky, Paterno, et. al. needed to be dealt with harshly, IMO, the NCAA went overboard. They should be called out. I don't think they will settle out of court. They are fighting for their survival.
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

                      • I think the Nitwits would be better off to just stfu and take their medicine. Maybe they win or get concessions but that whole story staying in the news is a price to pay.

                          • I'm not at all familiar with (a) the basis of PSU's suit or (b) PA law. Heh. I do know that in Ohio, e.g., some half-ass private organization can't fine the state any amount. Period. I also know that the only way an state entity in Ohio would pay $60M fine -- Ohio taxpayer money -- is if the state legislature approved the expenditure.

In other words, there's some real state sovereignity issues with a private entity assessing a huge fine against a state. Whether those issues exist in Pennsylvania, I dunno.

                            • Despite what Talent says, the Irish easily outnumber the Crimson Tide 5-1 at the Miami Beach Marina as the power players in this game roll into town for the Orange Bowl. "Fighting Irish" is easily 150 footer, steel hull, state-of-the-art, worth 100M at the end of my slip.

The battle is no longer waged with fisticuffs in the streets but on account ledger in the boardroom.

These ND alums are pipe-hitters as these yachts easily match Nascar during the Miami 400 hillbilly invasion.
