    • Take it for what it's worth:

Here is what one of Oregon's insiders posted on a Ducks message board about an hour ago:

      Welp.

Just heard from my guy today, who's been spot on with just about everything, from DeAnthony Thomas to Arik Armstead, to Darron leaving early, and the latest with Lyerla.

NCAA is close to delivering their verdict, and it's not nearly what we were hoping for, or what we thought we'd see 2 months ago. The lowlights:

      4 years probation
      2 year bowl ban
      30 scholarships over 3 years
No off campus recruiting for Campbell or Pellum in 2013
And there are questions, regarding DATs eligibility, but that is not resolved, and will be rolled into a separate investigation.
Announcement was supposed to come today, but will likely not be released by the NCAA or UO until later in the week.

      All I know for now.
Also, I haven't a clue how North Carolina will avoid harsh sanctions. Well, wait, I do -- it's the NCAA!

        • Anything about vacating victories?

Cheating fuckers. Hopefully, this will kill the meme that Oregon got good because of their stupid clownass uniforms.

Damn. The two class of '11 guys who spurned Michigan for supposedly greener pastures (Zettel and Fisher) have got to be second guessing their decision.

Speaking of vacating victories, the NCAA needs to re-institute forfeits. Make the record book say that you lost the game. The other team beat you.

The most expensive college football games
            By Darren Rovell

            Alabama Fans
All that winning means Alabama fans -- and SEC fans -- are going to pay big for tickets in 2012.
It's that time of year again, when college football fans who don't have season tickets are looking on secondary ticketing websites to buy seats to the most high-profile matchups.

If you're an Alabama fan, it's going to cost you a pretty penny.

Alabama is playing in three of the five most expensive matchups of the college football season, according to TiqIQ, a secondary ticket market search engine.

The most expensive ticket of the season is, not surprisingly, the rematch of last year's BCS title game between the Crimson Tide and the LSU Tigers. TiqIQ currently lists the average price for a ticket to the Nov. 3 game at $632.71. Alabama's opener versus Michigan at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas, comes in at No. 2 on TiqIQ's most expensive games to attend. An average seat to that game is $595.42, though fans can now find a cheaper option, as discount site LivingSocial.com started offering a standing room "ticket" package that includes a hot dog, chips and a soda for $89 last week. More than 2,000 of those tickets have since been purchased. Alabama's Iron Bowl game versus Auburn comes in at No. 5 with an average listing price of $481.66, according to TiqIQ.

Thanks to six straight national championships, the SEC leads all conferences in most expensive listed ticket price to its games. The average ticket to an SEC game, on the secondary market, costs $139.71. The Big Ten is the next most expensive at $132.65.

If you are going to skip the standard donation that often comes along with being a season-ticket holder, being a Big Ten fan will hurt the wallet a bit.

Nebraska is the most expensive ticket in the land for the second year in a row, with the average ticket to its games listed on the market for $262. Ohio State is second at $227 per ticket per game, while Iowa ($202) and Michigan ($185) start the season as the sixth and eighth most expensive tickets, respectively. That feat is even more remarkable when considering that the Wolverines have the largest stadium in college football, while Ohio State is No. 3 in capacity, with more than 100,000 fans crammed into Ohio Stadium each game.

It has averaged less than seven wins per season over the past five years, but Notre Dame still has the fourth most expensive ticket, and three of its games are among the top 10 most expensive this year. Half of the most expensive games of the season are being played at neutral sites.

Here's a deeper dive into TiqIQ's college football ticket price lists:

                • You could argue the accrediting body has much clearer obligation to act with respect to the wrongdoing at Penn State than the NCAA did. In fact, I would make that argument. When institutional leaders fail to this degree, and a governing board is this dysfunctional on such an important matter, accrediting agencies are supposed to step in with this sort of warning. Auburn got a similar warning about ten years ago when Bobby Joe Lowder was micromanaging university departments.

                    • I think someone in authority should nuke Penn State into the dark ages ..... that would be useful.

Look, Sandusky is a POS and so were all the the others involved in the PSU cover-up that were identified in the Freeh Report. PSU will pay The guilty parties will pay and should pay in various ways. ...... like death in JoPa's case and spending the rest of his life in prison getting ass-raped on a regular basis in Sandusky's case. But enough is enough.

Other than making themselves look like stand-up folks, groups seeking to burn PSU to the ground will create more harm then do good.

........ OTH, if PSU were to be forced to shut down and into insolvency by this Salem idiocy, the tax payers of Pennsylvania could be spared a bundle.

                      • Shutting down the school because of the football program is the highest order of lunacy. 44,000 students enroll in PSU at University Park alone each year (91,000 counting sattelite campuses). Why on earth would you take away that opportunity for education and create a log jam in other surrounding schools?

You would probably also cripple the entire city with the ripple effect.
