North Carolina's institutional cooperation has to help, but it's going to be undercut by its inability to compel the individuals primarily responsible for the violations(John Blake and Jennifer Wiley) to respond to the allegations. This is a lesson Michigan basketball learned some time ago-- claiming you did everything you could once you learned what was going on doesn't spare you if you should have learned it earlier, and especially if you cannot ensure full cooperation from all concerned. Having just gone through the NOA, I'd have to say UNC will be facing some fairly serious penalties. They probably aren't looking at USC-type sanctions, but I'd think 3-5 scholarships a year for three years, a four-year probation and a one-year bowl ban would be somewhere in the ballpark.

Furthermore, the allegation that the university failed to act promptly when informed of potential improper benefits by a student-athlete is going to be difficult for UNC to refute, given the frequency and cash value of the improper benefits listed in the NOA. The failure to monitor charge is almost certainly going to stick here, and UNC ought to consider themselves fortunate they avoided an allegation of lack of institutional control. Even factoring in the absence of a LOIC charge, though, I may have been generous in my assessment of their prospective penalties-- with the nature and number of the violations alleged here, UNC could be looking at a multiple-year bowl ban and a loss of 20+ scholarships, in addition to vacation of wins and a lengthy probation.Last edited by JRB; June 21, 2011, 10:40 PM.

who in the BigTen has upgraded/added/fixed/etc.. their facilities lately or have plans to do so? Just curious..
I know Indiana added/fixed their stadium. Michigan did as well and also updated their locker rooms..Grammar... The difference between feeling your nuts and feeling you're nuts.

Minnesota is new...
OSU, M, Iowa, Illlini & Wisky were major renovations recently... MSU added suites/luxury seating on one of their sidelines... Indiana just 'filled' in either their north/south endzone (had temp seating there before) as well as did an athletic complex in that endzone... PSU added more seating in one of their endzones about a decade ago and did 'structural' improvements more recently...
Who is left? Purdue.

Just looked up Purdue, they expanded/renovated (suites, luxury seating) to their east sideline in 2003'ish as well as renovated their south endzone... Wiki says TBA plans for upper deck on west sideline and north end zone. Not sure if they can fill those seats unless they are counting on teams like OSU, Neb, M & ND filling them.
