UNC had a coach getting paid by an agent basically to commit NCAA violations. They had a former player acting as a runner for another agent. They had a number of players receiving gifts and impermissible benefits. AND they had a number of players committing academic fraud with the help of a paid school tutor.
Failing to see why this is all significantly less serious than what occurred at OSU. Or how they're being punished much worse? Only difference is the slightly larger number of scholarships (5 a year for three years versus 3 a year)Comment

Oh please, Tressel was the Bernie Madoff of college football. When Tressel was caught, it was Like Capone getting convicted on tax evasion, it wasn't sexy but it had teeth. I would only again point out that the UNC case involved:
*An assistant coach knowingly committing serious NCAA violations on behalf of an NFL agent
*Boosters giving kids gifts and money over three years that totaled significantly above the value of our free tattoos (I know, I know, all the free cars have been successfully hushed up)
* A former player, working on behalf of yet another NFL agent, was given unfettered access to the program and facilities.
* A paid employee of the university writing papers for players and later giving them cash gifts and in one case, paying off $1700 worth of parking tickets for a player

Jim Tressel via surrogates ran a "cash, cars and courtesans" rewards program for over a decade that would make the SEC blush. Frankly getting busted for lying makes him look even more like a pompous ass. Get grip DSL, your coach is gone and he is NEVER coming back but take solace in the fact that he never faced criminal charges as the evidence strongly warrants. DSL let ask, do you actually live in that suit? It must be a strong unpleasant odor but I say not nearly as much as the Ohio program reeked under Tressel.
