Penn State's recruiting classes usually hover in the 15 range, solidly third in the Big Ten (now probably 4th behind Oregon). Franklin probably performs to expectations given their overall talent. They were #11 in the 247 talent composite this year followed by 13 and 15 the previous couple years. They go 10-3ish every year because they have 10-3ish talent. The biggest knock on Franklin is that a high end coach should be able to cobble together some big wins once in a while and he clearly can't beat top 5 teams ever. He's 4-20 against top 10 teams now with only 1 win against a team ranked in the top 5.. Sherrone Moore has a bigger win in his first season (8-5) than Franklin has in 11 seasons.

EDIT: His actual wins/losses average is essentially 9-4 every year (9.18 wins and 3.81 losses).

I'm sure Sark is disappointed. Notre Dame is far more likely to approach maximal performance and perhaps challenge his Lone Death Star. He could have counted on winning even if Texas had a bad night because Janklin.

On Franklin ...... yes, wow. That should be played on every B10 opponent's jumbotron, next season in pre-game. What a complete douche. He let his players and fans down - not the first time. He needs to own the loss to ND that he single-handedly engineered from the sideline, not conduct a post game interview full of obscenities and insulting, outrageous talk. I hope that exceedingly dumb post game interview haunts him for the rest of his CFB coaching days.
