The final score is a little misleading when it comes to how competitive Boise State vs Penn State was IMO. The most competitive CFP game this year so far… which isn’t saying much. Two missed FGs. Face mask penalty that had nothing to do with Boise scoring a TD that would have made it 24-21. I guess my point is at least the game felt watchable. Hopefully we get more close finishes today when it comes to the actual score. Guarantee that won’t be Texas vs Arizona State… and perhaps I don’t have the right to throw out guarantees after my Michigan vs Alabama prediction.

Something random that I’ve noticed in college football is a bad trend for star RBs on inferior teams playing in big games vs superior talented teams. It’s just too easy for the more talented team to have the roster and a game plan to shutdown the star RB. Or there’s been bad injury luck for the RB.

- Kenneth Walker (Michigan State) vs Ohio State 2021.
- Dylan Sampson (Tennessee) vs Ohio State 2024.
- Ashton Jeanty (Boise State) vs Penn State 2024.
Please let Cam Skattebo actually have a good game vs the superior talented Texas defense today. It would be entertaining. I suspect the exact opposite will happen.

The fact is every year there's 2 or 3 great teams that can win it all and having 12 is useless and going through the motions. Seriously, Penn State had to play SMU and Boise State as the 3rd seed because they won their crappy division.

This is a year when selecting the top 4 like last year would have been more efficient, and would have likely produced the same winner that the 12 team format will.

But this is a money decision more than anything. The networks are cleaning up when it comes to advertising bucks.

Froot is correct. There is nothing wrong with this format. Make winning the conference the goal and reward the conference champs with the higher seed

The only thing I would change would be having the quarter finals on campus of the higher seed. But we know that is not going to happen because $$$

I agree that as many playoff games as possible should be on campus. Makes them much more exciting. But the bowls won't go along with it. They have too much money to be ignored. If the Semi's and Final were the only bowl games that would be 3 bowl sites. There are about 2,866 bowls nowadays.

The major bowls aren't going to be satisfied with matchups like K-State vs Vandy.
