  • BTW, coming into this week one of the BCS computer rankings (Sagarin) had the Big 12 as being quite a bit stronger than the SEC this season, with the Big Ten in 3rd place. Of course, the same rankings had 5-5 Texas A&M 5-5 ranked #9 and 5-5 Missouri ranked #11 so I wouldn't put any real stock in them except that they are still factored into the BCS formula. I don't really get how the Big 12 is so highly rated.

Those same rankings also had Michigan as the best team in the Big Ten somehow.

    • LSU and Alabama are clearly the best two teams in the country and are head and shoulders above the rest.

Let's not start in on the short quarterback thing again.

        • I agree that Alabama and LSU are the two best, but they have played already.

If the BCS determines that LSU is #1 and Bama is #2, then I see no reason to play the BCS Championship game. That game has already been played. Just cancel it.

Of course, that will never happen, but what's the point in playing? Everyone knows that "rematch" games are not allowed for the BCS Championship Game. I thought everyone agreed on that back in 2006.

Well, obviously, it wasn't between two SEC teams. That's obviously okay, because it's the SEC and not someone else.

              • That was then, this is now. The Ducks loss tonight @ home to Lane Kiffins USC, - once again the RichRod spreads fails in big games. Like it or not LSU, Alabama, Arkansas will be in that order at the top of the BCS. LSU and Arkansas play Friday. One of the two could play Alabama in the national championship game if the Tide can beat Auburn in the Iron Bowl on Saturday. Ok by me.

I wouldn't care if the SEC hadn't led the charge in 2006 that rematches for the national title were this terrible thing that would ruin the college game and make the regular season meaningless.

Turns out it's only a bad thing if it's NOT THEM. Fuck that noise. Alabama had their chance. No rematches. That's the bed the SEC made, they should be forced to lie in it.

What's worse is their game was akin to a pitchers duel but one where there was only one .300 hitter in either line-up. Every other player was Brandon Inge.

At least the MICHIGAN vs. tat-U game in '06 was dynamic.

                      • I'm sure Gary Danielson will do a lot of On-Air "Servicing" of the SEC in the next 2 weeks.

                        • Circumstances are looking to be different from 2006. Michigan would have kept out a very deserving Florida team that had a better record. Who is desrving this year that will be excluded if it's Bama vs. LSU again? OK State and Stanford are the only two teams I can think of and does anyone here truly believe those teams are LSU or Alabama's equal? I don't.

Granted the SEC is not great top to bottom this year but they have the two best teams from what I've seen.

The only people back in 2006 who felt Michigan was owed a rematch were Michigan fans

                          • Did anyone see the the Oregon player sandwiched by two USC players while walking off the field after the game? They obviously were friends and having a friendly walk-off. But, the size difference was absolutely huge! Now it could have been one of the slots together with two offensive or defensive linemen (or whatever). But, the size difference was huge. Makes you wonder how some of these kids are even able to walk off the field after a game.

                            • Fair point made up top, dsl.

What is different between what happened in the game in '06 and what happened between LSU and bammer is that we lost a close game on the road and bammer lost a close game at home.

That said, the point about there being another worthy team out there in '06 is a good one. Bama may be the 2nd best team out there right now. It could still be Okie State, though, or Stanford or Oregon but they all lost at the wrong time, especially OSU.
I think Okie State could still sneak in there if they win the Big 12 title game while bammy watches.

Oh, shit. They don't have a championship game anymore, do they? That makes things more scrambled.

Again, all this stupid shit happens because there is no tournament.
