I had no idea ....... there are 14 teams across all of college football that sport some version of the winged helmet.

The Pac-2 are paying the Mountain West $14M to provide them with a slate of games.

If college football had a commissioner, or someone empowered to do what was best for the sport, the dissolution of the PAC-12 never would have happened. Hell, if the PAC-12's commissioner had possessed a clue as to what he was supposed to be doing, the PAC-12 wouldn't have fallen apart. Much of the recent realignment in the sport has been tough to take, but you could at least see the arguments in each case. The destruction of the PAC-12, though...it's difficult to see anything good or useful coming from that. Nobody wanted to see Stanford in the same conference with Clemson, or USC playing a conference game at Rutgers. Nobody thinks Washington State or Oregon State deserve to be left behind like this. Nobody except greedy athletic directors and administrators wanted any of this.

^^ THIS ^^
The story behind the dismantling of the Pac12 would make for a great "30 for 30" subject- except that would come from ESPN, who pretty much perfected the process of taking a great idea and and turning it to absolute garbage.

There needs to be a well-written book about it. One aspect of their downfall is that many of the PAC's programs had poor fan support. The networks generally pay for what a property is worth in terms of ad revenue. Kliavkoff had a overinflated sense of what the PAC-12 was worth to the TV networks and he dithered while the Big 12 took what was on the table. If the big metros out west, LA/SoCal, Phoenix, Bay area, had high ratings for PAC-12 football, there would still be a PAC-12.

Oregon vs Washington P12 championship game tonight! Seems like almost everyone is on the Ducks bandwagon to win this game. Oregon has been playing well since their loss to Washington. Whereas Washington has won a couple close games. Rumors about the flu going around for the last month or Penix not being 100% healthy. Whatever it is, I’m rooting for Washington tonight. Make it a close game at the very least.
Seems like the winner gets a CFP spot, but there’s interesting scenarios where people have suggested that two SEC teams could get in over a 12-1 Oregon team. Depends on how the games play out tomorrow. I personally doubt that.AAL 2023 - Alim McNeill

You would think that Texas has the upper hand over Alabama, but...
