Central Michigan signed Jim McElwain to a contract extension and raise. The Chips had an off year this season ending at 4-8 but most observers believe that was an under achievement. He is now the highest paid MAC coach in Michigan, now out earning the coaches at both WMU and EMU. His base salary pays just over 1M per year. There are other incentives as well.
If he can string together a couple good seasons, (perhaps a MAC championship and a bowl win) he'd likely get another look as a HC from a P5 school.
