And Michigan wasn't allowed to play for the mythical NC back in '73, and many other years, because of Big Ten policy. I believe, and always will believe, that the '73 team was as good as any team in the country. As was the case in many other years where they couldn't play for one reason or another. I felt the 2003 team with John Navarre and many future NFL'ers was as good as any team in the country. Sorry if that sticks in the craw of many here, but I don't care. Its my opinion. I think this year's team is one of the best in the country, and I would have liked to see Michigan play Georgia on the same day they played OSU. Georgia was ripe for picking, and OSU nearly pulled it off. If it would have come down to a M field goal, M would have won. No doubt.
And on a related note
Isn't it interesting that one of the hot topics around the NFL today is officiating? Is anyone watching J'ville vs Chargers?

I don't know how you can claim a fact on something that was not allowed to happen. The rules in place at the time did not allow Michigan to play Alabama. Or anyone.
I don't know how it can be a FACT that Michigan would not have had a chance to win a game vs Alabama, had that game been allowed to take place. Its not Michigan's fault that they were not allowed to play.

1 played 2 in the Sugar. That’s it. OSU win by 25 in the Rose. Didn’t matter. Learn your damn history. ZERO. FUCKING. CHANCE. (Unless you ignore all facts and reality)
I haven’t a clue if M or OSU were better than ND or UAT. What I’m 100% certain of is that if the Sugar could have taken M they would have still taken ND because 1v2. Zero doubt. And once it was 1v2 and not a tie no one else had a chance.
JFC.

Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]? Brady Hoke: You know.....not....good.
I don't understand how the gentleman from ohio claims that its a fact that '73 Michigan would have lost to Alabama. It was a game, that for whatever reason, was not allowed to happen. My feeling is, and always will be, that '73 Michigan was as good as any other team in the country. Including the 1 v 2 teams. But we'll never know because they weren't allowed to play.
And, I continue to to believe that had a real playoff been in place during those years, that M would have won some NC's. Yes, plural.
I don't care if anyone disagrees with that. I'm a Michigan fan. I choose to believe the best about the team I root for.
