M clearly deserves to be ranked ahead of Ohio State. That's not hard. Results matter.
And, yes, I'd rate M ahead of TCU, but, again, I think I can excuse away M's loss waaaay easier than I can excuse away OSU's loss to M.

They don’t have to but that’s been the trend the last 5 or 6 years. The last time a team that made the playoffs dropped out of the top 4 was Oklahoma in 2019 and before that OSU in 2016. The loser of the title game has been #2 for the last 6 years. They basically re-rank the top 4 based on the playoff results and go from there. It's why the NFL is so much better than college football. They have playoffs with clear rules on who makes it, no committees to determine the participants and absolutely nobody argues after the Super Bowl who was 2, 3, 4. The endless arguments about teams in college football is so tedious.Comment

Tiebreaker should go to whoever won the head to head meeting. If that fails, THEN use divisional champs.Comment
