I'd probably disagree but it's not worth the time to support a claim that M deserves to be in the top 10, if not the top 5. But, eh. Don't really care.

      Waiting for 2023.
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

      • M clearly deserves to be ranked ahead of Ohio State. That's not hard. Results matter.

And, yes, I'd rate M ahead of TCU, but, again, I think I can excuse away M's loss waaaay easier than I can excuse away OSU's loss to M.

That said, I do very much believe Ohio State (and maybe Alabama) are the teams would be in the coin flip range against Georgia.

        • Meh. Who cares. UM controlled their destiny. They shoulda easily had that #2 spot.

          • Well, yeah. TCU is just not good.

Serious question that I'm too lazy to google.
They don’t have to but that’s been the trend the last 5 or 6 years. The last time a team that made the playoffs dropped out of the top 4 was Oklahoma in 2019 and before that OSU in 2016. The loser of the title game has been #2 for the last 6 years. They basically re-rank the top 4 based on the playoff results and go from there. Alabama is “Best of the rest” this year.

              • So Michigan, with a single 5 point loss to TCU, is worse than TCU with 2 losses, who lost to Georgia by 80.

                Got it.

Those polls always tell the truth, don't they?

                • Who gives a shit about the rankings? Is anyone other than the biggest sports geeks going to remember who finished where behind GA. Most people couldn't tell you who was #1 three years ago.

                    • It's why the NFL is so much better than college football. They have playoffs with clear rules on who makes it, no committees to determine the participants and absolutely nobody argues after the Super Bowl who was 2, 3, 4. The endless arguments about teams in college football is so tedious.

                      • ...but you also end up with teams with losing records hosting games...

Yep, every once in awhile that happens. That is much more preferable than the endless arguments about who is better and who had the tougher schedule. Or having some committee release their top 20 every week so everybody can argue about it.

If that means you have to watch Tommy Tantrum host a playoff game with a subpar team, so be it.

                            • And you have essential parity in the NFL. The NFC East is on the same plane as the AFC West, etc., but the BigTen and SEC are completely different worlds than the SunBelt, MAC, and CUSA.

                              • Home field in the playoffs should go to best record. Divisional titles are meaningless. No one cares. Can anyone name the NFC South champ of 2015 without looking?

Tiebreaker should go to whoever won the head to head meeting. If that fails, THEN use divisional champs.
