Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?

    • 12 team playoff will basically take all the fun drama out of the regular season, like every other sport. And teams will still bitch they didn't get in and it needs to be extended (and will be) enjoy what we have now. The Game will mean nothing really after this year besides bragging rights then it might not matter if they play again in the playoffs.

      • I'll enjoy the 12 team playoff if only for the fact that it will open the door for more participants, and I think the first round (teams 5-12) is going to produce some upsets. A strong finishing team with a couple losses could provide a lot of interest. The bad side of that coin is that it basically guarantees a Notre Dame presence every year. They'd likely have to lose at least 3 games to be denied a spot.

I may not be around to see it, but I think eventually there's going to be a 16-24 team playoff. I'd expect 16 if the P5 separates from the NCAA.

I saw a projected 12-team tournament last week. Tulane was the # 12 seed. Tulane. I bet the # 13 team, particularly if it is an SEC team would be pissed. We are still going to have these discussions even when the tournament is 12 teams. Going to be much better

Talent is right. UTK is in. It actually works for them that they don't have to play a conference championship game.

I spend my winters in AZ, so I'm up "late" to watch the PAC-12. Let's keep in mind that Florida beat Utah and Georgia destroyed Oregon. That conference has to pick up some credible wins against B10 or SEC competition before its champion is considered for the Playoffs.

              • The best thing about a 12 team playoff is it will blunt the endless comparisons of schedules. It is so stupid and one of the reasons I consider the NFL a far superior product,.there is no committee to award playoff spots in the NFL.

College football has become less enjoyable as the focus on conference supremacy has grown.

                  • I guess those who thought it was a 'disaster' to let Gattis get away were a bit wrong.

                        • It’s football, which (to me) makes it better than virtually any other choice on cable on a nothingburger Wednesday night.
