Also, there's absolutely no way, NO WAY -- a 1-loss M or Ohio State get in. Neither team has beaten anyone that's gonna give them that push at the end of the season. In this case, that's Ohio State, so that really sucks for me, but that's life.

We will need chaos in the back half of the season. 1-loss M / Ohio State vs a 2-loss SEC team in the playoff debate.
Originally posted by iam416 View PostI honestly think Tennessee is in with that bullshit yesterday. If they lose a close game at Georgia then I think it's 100%.
They needed 17 Alabama penalties and a missed FG to win yesterday. Hell, Gibbs dropped a pass right before the FG that would have picked up 15 more yards.
There's zero way the P12 or B12 will have an undefeated champion. And Clemson is certainly beatable, though I would have thought FSU and Wake were their two best shots to lose.
It was nice to see UAT lose yesterday, but big picture-wise, it all but guaranteed 2 SEC teams in the CFP, and I fucking hate UTK. I'd much rather deal with the devils I know than add a third devil to the mix.
Eh, it's all moot for an OSU fan. It'll matter for you M fans, though.
Clemson has a couple mid-tier opponents remaining on their schedule. vs Syracuse, at Notre Dame, vs Louisville, vs Miami (FL), vs South Carolina, and ACC championship. They most likely win out, but maybe there’s one fluke loss in there… hopefully.
I watched Purdue vs Syracuse earlier this season. NO WAY Syracuse beats Clemson next week. Eye test, they’re not that good. Purdue should have defeated them.AAL 2023 - Alim McNeill

Right now I'd have UTK one spot ahead of UAT. Wherever you rank Tennessee, Alabama is next. And, if they both finish 11-1 then I look at the whole season and try to figure out who I think is better. IMO, it's still Alabama. Hell, that's my opinion now.
Purdue is Purdue. They have an infinite capacity to both fuck up games they should win and somehow win games they should lose. They were miles better than Syracuse. They should have blown them off the field in the 1H. They let them hang around in the 2H. And the final Syracuse drive was just hideous in every regard.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?

Every 1-loss P5 champion gets into the CFP over the 1-loss non-SEC champs... Every 1-loss SEC team goes in over 2-loss teams, regardless of winning conference champs... Too many games left to know but I think we'll see 2-loss P5 champs in the Big XII, Pac 12...
CFP will be: B1G champ (Buckeyes or Michigan), SEC Champ (1 of Tenn/Georgia/Bama), Clemson (zero competition in ACC), SEC 1-loss team
Clemson can even lose a game (e.g. Notre Dame) and still get in if they win the ACC, hard to see them losing 2 games but its what Big Ten teams need to root for the most... Tennessee is going to lose to Georgia, they are pretty likely to be in the CFP as the 1-loss team if they beat Kentucky... Ole Miss likely to finish the regular season with 2-losses...
SEC's strength gives M no option to get into the CFP with a loss to the Buckeyes, maybe only if its a OT, close loss. Even then, I think strength of schedule will come into play and SOS hurts both M and Ohio State chances as a 1-loss team.

The only way the M v OSU loser gets in the CFP with one loss, is if there is utter chaos in the SEC. Bama would have to lose again, (Ole Miss?) and Tenn would have to lose twice. The Vals will lose to Georgia, but I don't see another loss for them on their schedule unless KY can pull a stunner in Knoxville.
If Tenn somehow beats Georgia (lol) then there is no way the B1G could get a 2nd team in. The committee would take both Tenn and Georgia with one loss over the M vs OSU loser."in order to lead America you must love America"

I lifted this from an mgo post so credit to the guy that looked all this up:
Ohio State 29 over Iowa
Wisconsin 2 over Purdue
Penn State 4.5 over Minnesota
TCU 4.5 over Kansas State
Oregon 6 over UCLA
Clemson 13.5 over Syracuse
Baylor 8.5 over Kansas
Rutgers 3 over Indiana
Notre Dame 24 over UNLV
Maryland 13.5 over Northwestern

The only team to score more than 10 against Iowa was HARBAUGH!!!!, and they scored 27. There's no way Ohio State's offense matches HARBAUGH!!!!'s offense, so I haven't a fucking clue how Ohio State can cover 29. That's insane.
I will say that if any offense can score negative points, it's Iowa. But, still.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?
