ND's loss to mighty Marshal was hilarious. Does it make them an official tomato can when strength of schedule is calculated?

I was at the App State/ aTm game yesterday. It was fucking glorious. Fuck Jimbo Fisher and his top recruiting class.
App State dominated in the trenches the entire game. They had a TD catch overturned in the first period and were inches away from another in the 3rd or the score would have matched the stats. If not for a bail-out roughing the passer call on third and a mile late in the game, ATM wouldn't have been in a position to try a field goal to try to tie the game.
The Kyle Stadium game day experience was wild, though. It was worth the trip in itself, although it seemed at times that they were more into their cheers than the ball game. The band and half time show was amazing. They played better than the football team for sure.
Have I said fuck Jimbo Fisher yet? If not, Fuck Jimbo Fisher.
SEC! SEC! SEC! Ha!

Its a sad Sunday in Texas today. A double punch to the lower regions of man-land.
But, I doubt that yesterday's App State win will be considered 'bigger' than their win at Michigan.
Jimbo will still get love from the sports media, whereas Lloyd was mocked for the rest of his career over that loss."in order to lead America you must love America"

Not that facts ever get in anyone's way, but Appy State was a D-1AA team when they beat M. They are now a very solid "Group of 5" team. That's a pretty big difference. And I can't figure out, for the life of me, why M fans would, in any way, want to use an Appy State upset of aTm to bring up the 2007 debacle and still manage to nail themselves to the cross...O' how unfair the media is to M!!!....but so be it....
It was glorios to watch aTm lose and get beat...not just lose, but get beat....
It was also glorious to watch M lose to Appy State, but that was 15 years ago...it's not even particularly great sass material at this point in time.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?

Remember, Appy State gave up like 1000 yards and 90 points to The Mack...they're a solid Group of 5 squad that will challenge for the Sun Belt and could be an annoying game for a top 25ish team, but there's no way on earth a legit top 10 team should struggle with them...or get their offense absolutely obliterated by them...Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?

CFB Nerds had a pretty interesting short discussion where they think, based on very early returns, that defenses are closing the gap on offenses (I think that's true). And when you stop playing basketball on grass, it ends up creating more of a chance for upsets. In a low scoring game, variability can crush you. Of course, ND and aTm just got flat beat. But whatever. They also pointed to a Harvard study that concluded sports fans want suspense -- not action. They'd rather watch the crazy ass FSU-LSU game than a 56-35 game. Or the UAT-Texas game.
Anyway, it's more of an idea than a conclusion at this time, but I think you can see it.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?

Interesting observation about college football defense. Finally catching up to the spread era. I can see it.
Crazy day though. Just saw the Baylor vs BYU highlights…. The kicking in that game.
If only Bama lost. Could have easily if Texas didn’t suffer two QB injuries. Oh well, 3 top 10 losses is plenty of entertainment. Oklahoma is up next for an upset!AAL 2023 - Alim McNeill

Its not true, but whatever. Haters gonna hate. Its what they do. I'm the only Michigan fan that I know of that gives App State credit for their 3 NC's in 4 years, including the year they beat Michigan. Everyone else seems to think that their win over Michigan was like Oberlin coming to Michigan and winning by two TD's.
But, as I said, whatever. The bullseye on M's back is a heavy load at times.
.. and it was a nice finish to that season when Michigan defeated the mighty Urban Meyer and his defending NC Florida, and the super human Heisman winner Tim Tebow. The NFL is still ringing with the exploits of Mssrs. Tebow and Meyer and their outstanding NFL careers.Last edited by lineygoblue; September 11, 2022, 09:41 AM."in order to lead America you must love America"

I don’t really care when people bring up App St vs Michigan. Most sports teams have their embarrassments. It is what it is.
2022 Texas A&M ranked #6. 2007 Michigan ranked #5. The point spread and expectations of the game drastically different though. Michigan one of the first notable top teams to be defeated by a team like App State.
Again, not a big deal to me. Ask Atlanta Falcons fans how they feel when people bring up choking a 28-3 Super Bowl lead. OR us Detroit Lions fans having 1 playoff win since 1957. So many embarrassing tales.
…
Miami (FL) vs Texas A&M NEXT week. That’s big because Texas A&M’s NIL machine could have 2 early losses.AAL 2023 - Alim McNeill

It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.
