  • That's alright, AA. I get a chuckle every time you and Mr Talent predict horrible losses for your teams, and meanwhile here we are, with both of your teams slotted for playoff berths.

Its okay for you gentlemen, but not for me?

    Okay.

I think Michigan has more recent history of failing to live up to its potential than either OSU or Alabama.

    Agree?

    • I usually don’t talk about losing a particular game with Bama, Liney. I expect Alabama to win usually. Covering the spread is a different proposition. I gamble. I place wagers. I talk about inflated lines most of the time with regard to Bama. I will also talk streaks (eg, “with the way we are playing, we will not win out” or whatever). Talent does that a lot, too. The only team in America I think we can’t beat on a good day is Georgia. They are much better than anyone in the country IMO.

The incongruity with you is Eeyore before a game with M’s chances and a lion after the game when talking about hypothetical matchups that can’t happen.

No real sass, intended. Just thought it was funny.

      • I appreciate the comments.

My current feeling toward MSU is based on the actual events and outcome of the game. After seeing the game, I do have more confidence that Michigan is the better team. I think Michigan's defense is better, and I think Michigan's offense is more versatile than MSU's. Based on what I saw, I think M wins a neutral field rematch. That's my opinion. I don't think MSU could get away with the substitution thing again, and they wouldn't have their crowd behind them on a neutral field. Give me M vs MSU in Indy, where each team would have about 35K fans each, and I don't think MSU gets that kind of boost.

I'll admit to 'eeyore' before the game. I've done it all year long. Shoot me twice. I'm not the only one that does that here. I don't think its a eeyore thing for me to believe that OSU will win next Saturday. Its based on both team's performances this year. OSU is the better team. I don't know how anyone can dispute that.

        • Yes, I have no problem with that, but I am absolutely certain that you would change direction and predict a M loss if that hypothetical game with MSU were to come to be.

          • Anyway, I like OSU to win this weekend, 40-27, M to win 38-14, and Alabama to win 38-24.

            That is all.

...... but it's still good sass.

Referencing the question of MSU v. M in a "hypothetical match-up" and Liney saying M would win it, that's nothing more than a different way of articulating that in 2021, overall, M plays football better than MSU and in 100 matchups v. those rank amateurs up in EL will win at least 51 games and probably more like 75. That's how much better I think the 2021 version of M football is than MSU. Clearly, I'm not alone in that observation few ranking systems place MSU above M. I believe that's because M operating as a whole is better than the sum of it's parts.

Football, like combat, is a team endeavor. While the press loves Audie Murphy stories, it was the combined efforts of the team that made up the Allies in WWII that kicked Hitler's, Mussolini's and Tojo's assess. Football is the same. Teams win because of the collective efforts of 22 players. When those teams don't win, while the reasons for a loss are multiple, having an Audie Murphy or two type players heroically carrying the entire team is frequently among those reasons.

              • Its always proper to use the word "thugs" in referring to anything MSU. That's a given. Just like you'd use the words 'horse manure' to describe anything Kirby Smart.

But, I'd actually like a rematch with those thugs. I think M would set things right.

                  • This is kinda neat and not just because no matter the method of evaluating the relative merits of M v. MSU football, there's no debate about whether or not M is >>than MSU.

I know, I know, the scoreboard that day told a different story after 60 minutes, well, 4.5 hours thanks to fucking FOX, by every other measure, the numbers don't lie.

                      • Reed and Nailor are probably first rounders. Reed and Nailor combined for 10 catches, and had 80 and 75 yards respectively. No TDs. I'd call that an impressive defensive effort against one component of MSU's offense.
Just to reiterate -- Nailor played like a quarter and few minutes. So, ummm, nice job? And I'm not sure they're second-rounders, let alone first rounders. That's, ummmm....boy, I'd take bet...BIG....

But, it's good to have you back. There are a dozen other parts of Ohio State's team that I'd take a shot at as not great, but I love that you're dug in going after their WRs. Again, good to have to back.

                        • Nailor has always been a game changer, but he's small and can't stay healthy. He is not a first rounder even if he could stay healthy.

Reed has better pro prospects but not 1st round material.

                          • Yes. I know. Most people who watch Michigan State or follow the B10 know that.

                            • MSU's Tucker is about to become the 2nd highest paid CFB coach in the country, only being surpassed by The Nick.

If MSU keeps doing this, they'll have to stop throwing shade at Michigan for being the "rich" school.
