USC legend Sam “Bam” Cunningham dead at age 71. Sam is best known for the mythology that he integrated the UA football team after running wild on the Bama D in 1970. Bryant had previously signed two African-American players the year before that game, but it’s a nice story. Bama beat the Trojans next year as Bryant transitioned to the wishbone.

It’s been more than 2 decades since Nebraska has been atop the AP poll. Not just at the end of the year winning a NC, but at any week during the regular season. They are essentially reduced to being Tulane with corn instead of gumbo. Ogallala instead of New Orleans. Polka instead of jazz. Pedo Bears in pink shirts turning to volleyball.
