  • I think what may be taking shape now, is the SEC and ACC are going to merge for a East/South super conference, (AFC in the NFL) and then the Big 10 and Pac 12 will combine for a North/West super conference (NFC in the NFL).

Each conference will then divide into two x 16 team divisions, (four total divisions) and the top four in each division will make the playoffs. (4 x 4 = 16 teams)

And the new college football league will tell the NCAA to go have sex with themselves. College Football will break away from the NCAA and become its own entity. Basketball may not be far behind. The NCAA will only exist for minor sports.

    • Fuck it. I'm done with college football if that happens. It was the most unique sport in the world. Now it's fucked.

      • Its only been a matter of time, Wiz. If the NCAA would have just made a few concessions to players to put some legal money in their pockets, this may not have happened, or at least it might have been delayed for awhile. But now, the bell has been rung, and there's no way to un-ring it.

        • The next thing to come will be the lawsuits that secondary and women’s sports athletes are treated unfairly because they don’t make the same coin that men’s basketball and football rake in.

          • Further, 4 and 5 star kids will almost never consider non-major programs. That will end. Why would the odd 4-star skill player go to a Southern Miss or wherever and make a pittance with NIL when he can make a few hundred thousand or more at a Bama or Ohio State?

              That ball is already rolling.

"The majority of the NCAA’s revenue comes from media rights deals, the most lucrative of which is its agreement with Turner and CBS to broadcast the men’s tournament. It extended that deal in 2016 for eight years and $8.8 billion.

The women’s tournament, by contrast, was sold to ESPN in 2010 as part of a package with several other championships. An NCAA spokeswoman this spring cited a third-party analysis that calculated the women’s tournament’s share of that revenue at $5.7 million per year."

I have a shiny nickel for anyone who can explain why the NCAA places more emphasis on the men's tournament. But... INEQUITIES!!!
