  • I'm not sure what Meyer is going to do re: Texas, but I do remember he denied that he was going to OSU before he took the job. He knows he's the hottest coaching property in the CFB nation right now, and if he coaches again, its going to have to be a situation that fits him like a glove, both financially, and competitively.

He's not going to walk into a "Kansas" type situation and try to resurrect a perennial loser and make them a NC contender. He's going to want a situation similar to what he had at OSU where just a few tweeks are necessary to get into the NC competition. Texas would fit that bill, as would USC and maybe a couple others. And, he's already stated that he can't coach Michigan after coaching at OSU, so we can forget that.

I still get the impression that he likes his situation at Fox quite a bit. If he gets back into coaching, he's going to go into a Cadillac situation, not a Yugo.

    • I think Urban is done. Brain cyst and dealing with headaches is not worth the trouble... if it's true. I'll take Urban at his word this time based on the interviews that are out there.

      • I don't think he's going to Texas.

        • I wonder who Texas will go after if Urban doesn't go there.

          • I think they'll ride out another year with Herman if UFM doesn't come.

                • IF Texas parts way with Tom Herman this year ... I'd go with the wildcard and say James Franklin to Texas. It sounds bizarre, but yes... compare this idea to Jimbo leaving FSU after a down year for A&M.

Agree with Iam... Guessing they stick with Herman if Urban doesn't bite.

                  • Per an OSU board that would know: Texas offers UFM 7 yrs/84M. As it relates to OSU, his son-in-law (Corey Dennis) would join him (QB Coach). Other staff would stay.

                    • Are there any actual rules against offering a job to a coach when you still have one under contract? Or is it just bad form? I’m pretty sure you can’t do that in pro sports.

                        • Above board? I thought that was tampering. Maybe that’s only if the coach you want is under contract with another team. I don’t really care either way, I’ve just never heard of a team making a money offer to another coach A) during the season and B) before the current coach is even fired.

                          • Pretty reliable OSU board says "No" -- fingers crossed those fucktwats have it right.

Also, Thamel is on Finebaum going on about how dysfunctional Texas is and says he doesn't expect UFM to accept.

                            • This will also be Michigan’s problem whenever they look for a new coach. The gig is up with Michigan being considered a destination job. The commentary about Michigan football is increasingly focusing on the administration. And not in a good way.
