    JJ McCarthy has a torn Meniscus in his R knee. He injured his knee in the pre-season game v. the Raiders, He'll have surgery to assess the damage, repair what ever needs to be repaired and will hopefully have a short recovery.

              there are varying degrees of meniscus tears--my guess is his was buckethandle --tearing the root to boot --most meniscus tears are degenerative and dont require surgery.. Mine was a horizontal I think didnt require much post op rehab but didnt work --had to get a new knee. His sounds like he ripped out a big portion all the way to the base

                                Meanwhile in the NFL.... Jim Harbaugh and Jesse Minter's LA Chargers won their opener 22-10 on the strength of 176 rushing yards at 6.5 ypc and a stifling defense. Boy, those were the days.
