            • In case you haven't been following the NFL Draft, here's a quick review from The Sporting News:

Michigan players drafted in 2024 NFL Draft

A look at the Michigan players selected in the 2024 NFL Draft:
              • J.J. McCarthy, QB, Minnesota Vikings (No. 10 overall)

The Vikings traded up to get McCarthy, who will join Sam Darnold and have a chance to start early. McCarthy is the first Michigan quarterback to be taken in the first round since Jim Harbaugh in 1987.
              • Kris Jenkins, DT, Cincinnati Bengals (No. 49 overall)

Jenkins (6-3, 299) tested well at the NFL Scouting Combine and has a NFL pedigree. Cincinnati lost D.J. Reader to free agency, so this fills a need in the defensive interior.
              • Mike Sainristil, S, Washington Commanders (No. 50 overall)

Sainristil (5-9, 182) will be an immediate-impact at the next level. The first-team Sporting News All American has a penchant for making the big play at the right time.
              • Junior Colson, LB, Los Angeles Chargers (No. 69 overall)

Colson (6-2, 238 pounds) reunites with Harbaugh with the Chargers. Colson averaged 98 tackles the last two seasons for the Wolverines.
              • Blake Corum, RB, Los Angeles Rams (No. 83 overall)

Corum (5-8, 205) slipped to third round, but he could fit in Sean McVay's offense in Los Angeles. Corum scored 58 rushing TDs at Michigan and will get his chance to contribute in the red zone.
              • Roman Wilson, WR, Pittsburgh Steelers (No. 84 overall)

Wilson (5-11, 185) was a Senior Bowl standout and big-play receiver for the Wolverines with 12 TDs. Wilson ran a 4.39 in the 40 at the NFL Scouting Combine. He will emerge as an option as a slot receiver for the Steelers as a rookie.
              • Zak Zinter, G, Cleveland Browns (No. 85 overall)

Zinter (6-6. 309) suffered a gruesome leg injury in the regular-season finale against Ohio State, but he had 42 career starts at guard and is excels in run blocking on the interior. He could develop into a starter for the Browns.
              • AJ Barner, TE, Seattle Seahawks (No. 121 overall)

Barner (6-6. 245) is a blocking tight end with range, and SN had him projected to land with the Seahawks a few rounds later.

Michigan players on 2024 NFL Draft board

Here's a look where SN's Vinnie Iyer projects the other Michigan players to be drafted in the 2024 NFL Draft:
              PLAYER POS PROJECTED ROUND
              Cornelius Johnson WR 5
              Drake Nugent CB 5
              Michael Barrett LB 6
              Trevor Keegan G 6
              Braiden McGregor LB 7
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

                • Michigan ends up with 13 players drafted. 2 short of the all-time record set by Georgia two years ago. That’s a record for Michigan and I’m guessing the most ever for a Big Ten team.

                  • Research suggests that OSU had 14 players drafted in 2014. Unofficial polls indicate that nobody gave a shit about that team anyway.

                      Thought you'd like that.

Harbaugh did shake up the CFB world while at M. His acumen in filling out his coaching staff had a lot to do with a CFB National Championship. Took him a while but his success had a lot to do with how smoothly he and his staff worked together. Sure, it's just coincidental that Saban retired and Day, after losing 3 straight to Michigan, reworked his coaching staff. But it happened.

                          Jeff,

Harbaugh did not chase Saban away. Saban is soon to be 73 and had already told people he was retiring before the SECCG. Honestly, his age, his demeanor change (kindly grandpa instead of heated competitor), and his public disdain of the direction CFB with NIL was going were the causative reasons.

Claiming that a TD loss to M in the CFP “chased” him away is beyond ridiculous. It’s the rooster claiming his crowing made the Sun rise. It’s stupid and you’re not stupid.

                            • Nice SI piece on JJ McCarthy and the Minnesota Vikings. JJ is battling Sam Darnold for starter. He's not likely to unseat Sam but it sounds like the coaches like how JJ is fitting in to the offense.

More JJ film film from NFL. com

Minnesota Vikings rookie QB J.J. McCarthy had a rocky start to his preseason on Saturday before settling in and throwing two TD passes against the Las Vegas Raiders

                              • Never understood the wisdom of betting preseason. NFL is the hardest sport for most gamblers as it is --let alone the first preason game with a bunch of unknowns and has beens fighting it out

New kickoffs look rally strange but it looks a lot more returns for big yardage are in the future
