  • Michigan has so little to root for in athletics nowadays that at least for me, we need to glean whatever good news happens. Brady participating in Super Bowl #10 is something to be proud of for M fans. This is the QB that Lloyd Carr kept pulling out of games so that a hotshot golden boy wouldn't leave the team and go play baseball. So of course, the hotshot golden boy left early for baseball anyway. All Brady did was beat .... Alabama ... in his last collegiate game.

Brady doesn't even have all of the stats. He trails many great QB's in some statistics. But for him to still be QB'ing a professional football team at his age, and playing well enough to get them to the Super Bowl is quite remarkable.

    • I will never forgive Chris Samuels or Ryan Pflugner for that game. Absolutely should have won it.

      • Brady is pretty good statistically, also. He's #1 all-time in passing TDs, 2nd in passing yards (800 behind Brees who he will pass next year). If you go to postseason numbers nobody is in the same universe. Yesterday was his 33rd career playoff win as a starting quarterback which surpassed Bart Starr, Bret Favre, and Aaron Rodgers COMBINED. He's the oldest player to ever throw a TD pass in a playoff game. The old record was George Blanda in the 1970 AFC title game.

He is currently the oldest player in the NFL and threw for 4,633 yards and 40 TDs this season. He's added 7 more TDs in three playoff games. He took over a Tampa team that hadn't won a playoff game in 18 years and just won 3 straight playoff games on the road (the 5th wildcard team to ever do so). This is his 18th season in the playoffs and 2020 is the FIRST time he's on a wildcard team. 2020 also marks the first time he'll play 4 postseason games in the same season.

        • Oh no, Brady has had a phenomenal career statistically. I was talking about the game yesterday- which was underwhelming.

          • Oh, I know. He had two really bad picks, the third one I put on the receiver. They also had some pretty bad drops. That end of the first half sequence was a clinic in coaching, execution, and gusto combined with absolute retardacy on the other side.

I still can't believe he's as good as he is, decline and all, at 43.5 years of age. The only other QBs who have made it this far are a trash heap of Steve Deberg, Dave Krieg, the corpses of Warren Moon and Vinnie Testaverde. All those guys were primarily clipboard holders their last few seasons and here's Brady going to his 10th Super Bowl. I'm starting think he may be a wizard or something.

You have Brady confused with Rodgers.

                  • Rodgers only controls the refs. He just couldn't do it yesterday when his coach made the absolutely moronic move to kick a FG on 4th and goal. Was there any doubt that, even if they didn't convert, that a roughing the passer, defensive hold or hands to the face penalty would have gotten called? The 2-point conversion was a gimme. Tie game and all bets are off after that.

And prior to that terrible call to kick a FG, Rodgers declined to take off running when he could've gotten good yardage on both 2nd and 3rd downs. The 3rd down play in particular he may have run for a TD. Instead he scrambled just up to the line of scrimmage and forced bad throws.

                      • Rodgers had nothing between him and the goal line on 3rd down but the stuff that cows eat. Green grass. He could have walked into the end zone. Instead, he took a shot with the pass, and hoped his coach would give him another chance. Too bad for him.

Rodgers has nothing to be upset about. He's gotten the benefit of MANY calls over the years, and he's played in 7 NFC Championship games. He's had a great career.

Ah... George Blanda QB of Bears and Raiders. He spoke at my town's high school football banquet when I was 6 or 7. My dad was the MC and he got me Blanda's autograph! Guess that ages me!

                              • Yeah, Rodgers not running it at the end was puzzling. They really have nobody to blame but themselves but give credit to TB for taking advantage of the Packers' mistakes.

And Rodgers has only been to 5 NFC title games but he just set a record with his 4th consecutive loss in it. He remains tied with Rex Grossman with one NFC championship game victory. Tom Brady has also lost 4 conference championship games but has won 10. TEN.
