BTW, Sean, left for work this morning and my son was getting his pre-school NASCAR fix -- re-watching the final 25 laps of the CokeZero (2nd Daytona) race. He loves that one. So do I! I'm sure multiple of your drivers DNF'd in that one.

M-Borg vs. THE Flavortown U Thread, Orig. by Buckeye Paul, absconded w/by talent.

Anyway, to derail this thread a bit from t-shirts mocking Penn State and NASCAR, Ohio State's depth chart for tomorrow:
QB-Miller then Guiton (UFM says he's really happy with Guiton's progression, too, so hopefully we'll see him a bit tomorrw).
RB-Hyde then Dunn. Right now they're running with no "small back" with Hall out.
FB-Zach Boren. Team captain. UFM loves him. I'd expect him to get a number of touches.
WR-Devin Smith then Michael Thomas. Smith showed flashes last season -- like 2 or 3! and Thomas is a frosh, but went through spring. Smith, I think, has the talent to be a legit OSU WR
WR-Corey Brown -- not as sure with Brown. He was a highly regarded recruit, but hasn't done much, yet.
H-Back-Stoneburner (probably would have been a captain but for his piss and run!)
LT-Jack Mewhort
LG-Andrew Norwell
C-Corey Linsley
RG-Marcus Hall
RT-Reid Fragel
Backup G-Antonio Underwood; Backup T-Taylor Decker, though if a tackle went down, they may move Norwell out and put Underwood in. Jacoby Boren is the backup center as a true frosh, and they love him.
From what I've read, UFM was appalled by the offense at the start of spring camp. He's now pleased with the OL and Miller. He loves Zach Boren and will get him the ball ("why you play a FB who can't touch the ball?--defense doesn't have to defend him"). He still thinks the WRs aren't good enough and he's probably right. Jordan Hall factored big into his offense as a destitute man's Percy Harvin, so not having him at the outset will stink.
Defense:
LEO--John Simon with Steve Miller and Noah Spence getting snaps
DT--Hankins with Adolphus Washington and Tommy Schutt getting snaps
NG--Goebel with no particularly great backup of note
DE--Michael Bennett
OLB--Etienne Sabino
OLB--Ryan Shazier
ILB--Curtis Grant
CB-Roby with Doran Grant getting plays
CB--Travis Howard
S--Christian Bryant and Orhian Johnson
S--CJ Barnett and Corey Brown
Of note, Nathan Williams should play a few snaps this week. It seems like his recovery from his microfracture injury is almost complete, but they're taking it slow. He is a "LEO". If he or Simon's other backups play, Simon can flip to DE and spell Bennett. Sabino and Shazier will be on the field for all packages. Curtis Grant will come out for Orhian Johnson or Doran Grant for the nickel.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?

Some good, some bad. All in all, I will take it for an opener. Really like the way Guiton played, when called on. And Dunn is getting carries!

And Dunn scores. Tressel would have taken a knee. Fuck that.
Yeah, DSL, things picked up after the 1st. UCF is a legit team, so next week won't be as easy. That.said, railing a decent MAC school is a good start.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?

As long as you still care about losing to OSU, I'm happy. And I know you do.
Anyway, next week is the first test- far more than Cal, IMO. 56-10 is encouraging.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?

As it is you've already lost the hard-won respect of most Michigan fans.
The Michigan fans I know off the net aren't as sanctimonious as several are in here.Benny Blades~"If you break down this team man for man, we have talent to compare with any team."

Nobody here should want me speaking for this group, never mind this group speaking for the larger one...
But never mind my splitting of a split hair -- it's obvious anyways. People don't tend to respect an opponent who cheats, nor do they value a rivalry they perceive is played on an unlevel playing field. You don't need to be a UM fan, or a person who likes to wind up UM fans, to know that the more times this happens the more people will find it less compelling as a matchup. Just think about the reason why that ``level playing field'' cliche exists in the first place, maybe.
Lastly, if you don't want to split hairs, then don't. This is a sports forum. There's been utter bullshit flung back and forth in both directions, and for those of us who enjoy that, why wreck our fun?Last edited by hack; September 1, 2012, 04:10 PM.
