Dylan's voice is distinct but not aesthetically pleasing IMO
True, but if he had the voice of, lets say, Frank Sinatra (obviously more aesthetically pleasing), would it work with Dylan's style of writing/music?

      • Hey you know what? Some impersonator could cash in with a bunch of lounge covers of Dylan. Has potential to be very funny.

        • I fully understand the difference. Janice was an awesome singer. I was ok with Dylan's studio work but it got worse live. I like Dylan's music just fine but more for the content than the delivery. Just my take on it

          • Joplin was awesome in exactly the way Dylan is. More or less the same approach, so if you appreciate one its odd not to spot the same trait in the other. The '75 Rolling Thunder album, within the confines of matters of opinion like this one, kinda negates that. The way he spits on the chorus of Knockin' on Heaven's Door is amazing as well as the Hattie Carroll and some others. That's a live performance.

              • Sqw Dylan in 75 when he did the "Before the Flood" tour at Chrisler. Had eight tickets on the floor. Went with my wife and six of my closest friends. Tickets were $8.50 It was an incredible concert. Dylan appeared with The Band. He did a set with The Band, The Band did a set, and Dylan did an acoustical set

You find Dylan's guitar ability wanting?

                              • This thread has devolved into a group of old men, rocking back and forth on the porch, mindlessly whittling away at pieces of wood, while they talk about 40-year-old concerts and how music ain't the same as when they were young.
