You're exactly right, WM. Obviously, the guy who did that for OSU last year was Diebler. OSU ran a set last year with Sully in the post and Diebler in the corner/maybe out to the wing that was basic and devastating.
The guy who HAS to be that guy is Buford. He is -- or at least was -- a late first round NBA pick. He has been thoroughly mediocre. He's the "missing" piece, but I doubt he finds what's missing.
Sullinger does what he does. Thomas is gritty player who score from anywhere. Craft gives you what he does. With Buford in a two-month funk, yeah, they really, really miss Diebler.
I'm starting to wonder if Sullinger may return. He should probably go. His game is what it is -- it's not getting any more "NBA ready". He may improve his draft stock a bit simply b/c this year is loaded. Thomas may go, too. But he'd actually really benefit from another year. I think Thomas has the potential to be a better NBA player than Sullinger.
Meh, already thinking about next year. Well, the upside is the NCAA is a crapshoot. Takes one good run. OSU, IMO, was the best team in the country last year; and UConn certainly wasn't.
