Urban Meyer's first order of business, apparently he banned or attempted to restrict his players' use of Social Media, in particular, Twitter?!?
Honestly Urban, your predecessor and current employer gave away more, "cash, cars & courtesans" than Bob Baker on The Price Is Right, and your first attempt at cleaning that Dirty Program in Columbus is to trample on Student Constitutional Rights? Really?
After three years of eating heaping bowls of dick, the shoe is on the other foot, the tables are turned.
Continue the revelry.
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.
I didn't realize M recruited illiterate players. Interesting. Anyway, I guess the reporting of the "twitter ban" was premature and wrong.
Some germane information. UFM final staff. Lots of experience on that staff with the exception of Zach Smith and Vrabel. The latter earned his spot recruiting for UFM these past few weeks while the former is, I think, Earle Bruce's grandson or something like that.
OC: Tom Herman
DC: Fickell/Withers
QB: Herman/Urban
OL; Ed Warinner
TE: Tim Hinton
WR: Zach Smith
RB: Drayton
DL: Vrabel
LB: Fickell
S: Withers
CB's: Taver Johnson
Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]? Brady Hoke: You know.....not....good.
Eh. Depends. The defense managed ok with Fickell/Heacock as "co"-DCs.
I do like Withers, though. The weak spot on the defense staff is Vrabel, but that's only due to experience. A lot of OSU fans think he struggled with the LBs this year. Hopefully he'll be more suited for DL. And, apparently, he can recruit.
I also really like Warinner. We'll see about Herman, though, tbh, UFM will have considerable say in the offense. Heh. And, of course, Herman/UFM is a huge upgrade as QB coach over Nic Sicilliano. Then again, Buchanan would have been at least rated an upgrade over him.
Sharing titles doesn't always equal sharing authority. The only way Weis got Haywood from Texas was to give him the OC title...even though everybody and their brother knew Weis was the defacto OC.
These things can work as long as Meyer was upfront, got everybody's buy-in and then monitors.
Obviously, UFM is doomed to fail, with the co-DCs being the first (or maybe second or third) sign. I will, nonetheless, hold out hope that he somehow puts together a decent program at OSU.
