  • I didn't go to U-M. I'm not clever. :-)
To be honest, I like Hoke's just calling them Ohio. Classy yet dismissive

      Heh .... heh.

In our (ohio haters) defense I think it's hard to come up with originally crushing and demeaning terms. They've all been used at least ten times in our long, long careers of hating on these guys.

There must be some kind of physical limit to describing them in unflattering terms
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

I just mean I wasn't bringing it up to piss youz guyz off. I know there's better talent than that here. More of a challenge than just taking the path of least resistance.

        • No offense taken Tony.

The term 'ohio' (as in ohio state or osu) is by nature an obscene four letter word and is always used in its diminutive form, never being capitalized. It is the very essence of an improper noun. As such, it is inferred in any context to be an obsenity which results in far fewer plays on the name. There isn't really any need to make any trite labels for the buckeyes. The truth is horrific enough for them.

I personally like "o-lie-o", its an accurate portrayal that even the most craven osu supporter knows in his heart that it sticks.

I like that too. It takes away the proudest part of their name, and makes them just another part of the state that they hail from. I can see why they don't like that from a professional team perspective as well. They have to accept the Browns, and they'd give the Bengals to Kentucky without firing a shot in their defense. And with Bron-Bron's departure to South Beach, they don't really want the Cadavers around anymore either. So, the "ohio" is very effective in equating them to the silliness of their pro teams.

But, I like going with the "OlieO", because for me, it is a constant reminder to them of how they got to where they are. "Nothing but lie's between the O's" ... And, they can't credibly deny it.

So, I see both terms as appropriate and acceptable.

As I said above, I'll consider others as well ...:-)

Last, it's sort of rich coming from the "venerable" large-breasted avatar? Tony your pinup of the week is as scantly clad as ever, keep them coming.

True but only for the Tressel era. Woody was many things but he was not a liar. Bo's alma mater deserves a head fake towards civility

                    • I despised Woody Hayes, and I certainly wouldn't want my kids to emulate his sportsmanship practices.

But, the man ran an honest program with integrity, .. and his players played tough but fair. One of the most remarkable things about the rivalry during his time against Bo, was how cleanly the games were played. Very rarely were there any unsportsmanlike conduct calls, or any personal fouls. Both men frowned on those kind of tactics.

                        • Michigan vs. Ohio State move to October (?)

There have been a few nebulous rumors lately that the Big Ten will make another push to schedule the rivalry earlier in the year, so as to avoid a following-week rematch in the Big Ten championship game.

The Game on the move? Pocket full of Posey? Offensive line search continues? All that and more in the Thursday Boarding House ...
