  • "Certainly the fact that the NCAA has allowed Ohio State to operate with two coaching staffs this month — one preparing for the bowl; the other out recruiting — would indicate that one of President Mark Emmert’s goals is one day to dot the “I” at halftime inside Ohio Stadium."

    • PB:

My understanding is that Withers' defensive philosophy is largely in line with what Heacock/Fickell did. So, there shouldn't be a huge clash. Jim Tressel made co-DCs work, so I think this will be fine. We'll see. But, you're right, I think: in general a "co" anything is bad news.

      Rocky:

Thanks for the excerpted quote as it save me some time. An author that ignorant of the facts and rules (as discussed at some length on this forum) doesn't deserve to read.
Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?
      Brady Hoke: You know.....not....good.

          • Petersen will stay put. The guy could have left for about four other big jobs by now. If he's going to leave Boise State, it definitely ain't going to be for Penn State.

            • I think he's a witch doctor or Scientologist or something but a hell of a coach.

              • Yeah, I think Petersen stays put as well. He's been mentioned for every big time opening lately, (including Michigan) and has decided to stay put each time. I doubt that Penn State has any more attraction than the others he's been considered for.

                  • DSL when Urban Fryer and I were both Floridians, he was OK.

However when the likes of Anakin was seduced by the Darkside or when Chastity Bono ,
(courtesy of her surgeon's scalpel) became Chaz Boner, a "Man", I have my limits.

Once the Urban Fryer crossed OP's Rubicon to Columbus, there was no turning back.

                    You have a Happy Holiday.

                    • Can either of you two erstwhile osu fans corroborate two rumors making their way around ......

                      (1) smith will be gone by Tuesday at the latest.

                      (2) This may be part of a deal with the NCAA to avoid further official NCAA allegations (Which would lead to LOIC and more penalties) that tressel told smith and he knew about the tat5 and was involved with tressel in the cover-up.

                      (2) would be really sweet if true and the press got a scoop with some proof of some kind of arrangement between the NCAA and osu but it sounds a little too good to be true.

On Peterson to PSU ..... no way. No decent coach is going to go to that place with the specter of two years of Sandusky testimony and trials on the horizon. PSU is screwed. Fair or not, they are definitely headed to the wilderness.

Post on Friday somewhere I was perusing that Paterno is on suicide watch (and that is not a joke). The point of the report was that the wrong guy is on suicide watch (I don't know about that ...... I'd say two guys probably should be and he's one of them).
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

                      • If the NCAA knew that Smith was aware of some of JT's and/or Ohio's sins, I don't see how the NCAA couldn't have down much, much harder on them. Its the definition of LOIC if your AD turns a blind eye to blatant rules violations... With Smith's connections with the NCAA, I guess that scenario is at least plausible...

I really have no clue why OSU waited this long to get rid of Smith, other than doing so would've made Ohio look guilty of even knowing more.

                          • I don't have any insider connections nor do I read subscriber boards at any of the big sites so I can't really corroborate anything. I'd be delighted if Smith were gone soon.

I'd have serious doubts that Gee knew much, because why would you tell him anything if you're Tressel or Smith?
