  • OP is losing his mind. Didn't mean to push him over the edge -- just make him dance a bit for me. Though, on one point, I agree, Coach Tressel and Ohio State will get what they deserve from the NCAA.

    • I absolutely love this ......

First, we have a rule here. If you're going to flame, this is the thread to do it in.

No self respecting Michigan or ohio state fan should expect not to be told to go F*** themselves by their respective mortal football enemy. Neither should any take umbrage at getting flamed. Flame on!

Now ...... I don't know where either of our two stalwart osu fans who post here regularly (glad to have you back talento ..... heh, heh ..... how many times have you said your gone?) got the idea that none of us are anything other than crushed by osu's record against Michigan since tressel arrived with his white hat in 2001 turned starkly black in 2011.

It been miserable; no words can adequately explain how bad it has been. It's given me, and probably everyone here, insight on how bad all you osu homers felt for the 10 years that cooper steered the ship at osu.

What has pissed me off is this "Flagship of the B1G" shit.

I don't think there is a single B1G fan - and I know there is not a single Michigan fan worth his salt - that's buying that.

No entity can claim flag ship status that has achieved any measure of success on the back of institutional leadership that has lied. tressel lied .... and in doing that he defined the entire athletic endeavor of ohio state university as lacking integrity. I don't give a shit how this is spun by defenders of tressel. It is a fact. It is what has happened despite osu's official distancing themselves (sort of) from the man. The sordid fact that osu officially wants to raise tressel up and have done so through the terms of his retirement makes me even more angry. But that is none of my business as indefensible as that seems to be to me.

Its going to take a few years to overcome this albatross tressel brought to osu. Fans, other than Michigan fans, have short memories. If osu goes 12-0/9-0 in the conference those with short memories will forget about tressel and the stench he brought to osu football ..... providing more stuff doesn't come out and I wouldn't bet on it not coming out. You can count on something stinky happening in October after the NCAA rules from an angry sports press. Good ..... rubbing hands.

Michigan fans, on the other hand, won't forget the indignity of the tressel decade and it should be clear to any observer who has only a remote understanding of the enmity between osu and Michigan fans why that is so.

So, for me, when it comes to football involving Michigan versus osu, the tressel years are stained by one giant steaming pile of shit left by by jim tressel. It colors how I see him as a man and as a head football coach much like the tarnished end of Woody Hays's career, a coach who I do give grudging support to because Bo did and I honor Bo by doing so.

Does that one mistake (the one that is acknowledged, anyway) erase M's losses to osu? No. But it makes me adamantly opposed as a matter of principle to raising osu to the level of Flag Ship of the B1G. As has been the case for decades, osu is a stinking cess pool of evil and the conduct of a long line of football players and coaches there, not the least of which is jim tressel and terrell pryor, marks that program in a way that if I were an osu fan, I would not be proud of that tradition.

Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

Wow I certainly hope Mrs. Talent doesn't catch a blackeye over this.

        • Sorry, Buchanan, but Ohio State is the B10 when it comes to football. Or, so I was told by numerous M fans when they blamed OSU and their two BCS Title game losses for the B10's poor image. Ohio State is also becoming the B10 when it comes to basketball, though Izzo is very difficult to displace in that regard. That's a heck of a program.

So, B10 Flaghip, Kings of the Big Ten, Overlords of the Midwest...whatever phrase you want to use....they all work.

Wife-beating? Poor, wretched OP. Truly unhinged.

          • Apparently ``I'm here for 24 hours so flame away'' actually means ``I'm here all the time, save for when I have to duck away for a few hours because I'm out of my league and have no cogent replies.''

(Totally true about this flagship business -- that certainly would rankle a lot more were it accomplished honestly and likely to continue.)

              • Wow this thread has really taken off!

I still think it fundamentally comes down to one thing --- this is not a symmetric rivalry.

M is O-state's big rival far away (maybe after a couple of decades of the Leaders division this will start to change, but this is the fact now). M has multiple big rivals (ND, Sparty, O-State) --- I don't want this to degenerate into "X" is the biggest rival, etc .... the very fact that some M fans may place greater emphasis on a game other than "The Game" is telling. What it boils down to is that pain of loss and the joy of a W is not the same for the two sides (at least when you consider all respective fans in aggregate)

Here's DSL basking in the thought that the Tresselgate decade finally evened the score, and M fans were forced to bear the same pain he felt the decade before. Now, in addition to the baseline asymmetry you add the cheating which sullies the victories, M fan pain level drops significantly. DSL can't take it ... he must insist that M fans are in denial, deep down feel the pain and acknowledge the dominance despite the cheating.

In any event, forget about pain ... it is definitely sweet to see the Messiah of Buckeye Nation forever tarnished as a fraud (in everyone else's eyes). The irony of that is priceless.

Talent's line of "all he did was not forward an e-mail" is an all time classic --- probably deserves its own sticky.

                  • Their messiah came. You'd think you'd get more from a messiah's arrival than an MNC everyone knows the refs won them, repeated assjackings by the SEC (is that how they say it in Northern Kentucky?), and a truckload of embarrassment when the whole thing unravelled into the fraud that it is, they became the poster-child for everything that's wrong with college football, and are hemhorraging top recruits to their main rival. And to think that from here it only gets worse? Ouch. You'd almost rather the emotional consistency of being a Lions fan...

                        • You should be a little more aware of board dynamics here. It would help you get out of that box in which you are forced to rely on bombast instead of rhetoric. Saying stupid stuff over and over and louder and louder doesn't make it more effective. It just helps more people to know how few options the shouter has left.
