That's only half of the 50 car deals that o-lie-o was interested in and which half was it? The whole state is lying and cheating.
Yeah yeah yeah, blah blah blah. It's all a conspiracy, right?

      Just curious.
I missed your question, liney. I think most have been somewhat excited about Fickell for a couple of years but are nervous that he's taken over the job overnight and going into a bad situation.

And we haven't even gotten into Pryor's "loaners" yet.

The denial in Buckeye nation is hilarious.

Lots more to come still, probably. ESPN and SI are still in town working on another story. All of this is just what we know without anyone agressively using the FOIA like the Freep did against Rodriguez.
Let us disprove the allegations one at a time, please. Not long ago, Wolverwhines were insisting that the IRS was going to enjoy poring through all these illegal titles and unpaid taxes on purchases and other BS. BMV cleared us and the dealership of all that. And it disproved that the players paid well under market value for the cars. And it stated outright that no memorabilia or tickets were exchanged in any purchase for a player or player family member.

No matter how you want to characterize it, it's good news for us. Obviously not everything is cleared up but a good bit of it is with this report, whether you like it or not. Or stammer and blubber all you want about how ESPN isn't done with us and they'll get us yet and blah blah blah

          • At this point, I don't really give a rat's ass about what the NCAA does to osu or the details of the murkiness that is osu's football program. A post season ban would be nice and add a cherry to the top of the whip cream that is osu's recruiting debacle.

The number of moves being made by top HS recruits in ohio away from osu, including those already pledged to osu who have depledged, is stunning. The entire B10 is benefiting from the tressel resignation, the fickell uncertainty and the gun pointed at the head of osu football by the NCAA.

Over time, this year's poor showing in recruiting and the likelihood the recruiting damage will continue into 2013 and 14 will make it that much harder for osu to find its way out of the middle tier of the B10 which is exactly where they are heading for few years.
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

Nobody, including myself, expected any criminal charges to come out of the vehicles. The dealers aren't that stupid. And as I said, the BMV "investigation" made no attempt to determine how the vehicles were financed and whether trade-ins were valued equitably. All that they did was determine that paperwork is in order and that there was nothing illegal taking place. It's downright hilarious to hear you guys talk as if you have been cleared of all wrongdoing. Reggie Bush would have easily been "cleared" by a similar investigation. He didn't commit a crime either.

And just think.. of this scandal, and the FOIA hasn't even hit you guys yet.

              • Oh, did I say we were cleared of all wrongdoing somewhere? I seem to recall saying the exact opposite

More amusing is trying to paint this news as an unimportant development or that it's somehow negative and OMG wait for the FOIA!!

Making sure that the vehicles' titles accurately reflect their sales prices is an unimportant devlopement. Nobody expected a smoking gun to come out of an investigation that would have just as easily "cleared" Maurice Clarett or Reggie Bush. Want to impress me? Explain to me how the vehicles were paid for.

Ahh. What does it matter? There's enough between Pryor, Tressel's cheating and cover-ups, and OSU's complete lack of contrition to easily reach USC territory. Vehicles to other players would be a bonus.

                  • Perception is reality, and the perception that tosu is dirty is leading to the reality of recruits looking elsewhere. I didn't expect the Ohio BMV to expose tosu.

                          • yes..sometimes. he's such a homer. I find it hard to listen to him. He has also said numerous times he was tressel fan... well, up until the recent reports.

I actually enjoy listening to Bill King and the noon show with Leach is pretty good as well.

                            • Agreed on Finebaum but I've been able to overlook his SEC/UA homerism.

The reason I asked was because Finebaum is pretty open about his disgust over back-room dealings with recruiting and a lot more in the SEC. Says its rampant. Of course his target is Auburn and Pat Dye and his cronies. But he's been balanced in talking about it.

He does admit that this stuff goes on at Alabama too with Saban being one of the very best at working the gray areas in the NCAA rules (which tressel and Carroll were also good at .... but obviously got caught out of bounds too).

I like Bill King too ...... except when he drags a point out for a whole segment when there is nothing else to talk about.

                              • The linked article describes the first comment by an osu trustee involving the various investigations surrounding osu football. There is nothing startling here other than we have another distinguished osu insider saying ...... "nothing here."

I suppose it is plausible that tp is the only osu player who could be accused of receiving inappropriate benefits for which the already imposed suspension would be considered by the NCAA as insufficient. But he's gone so, nothing further to do there.

I suppose it is plausible that the NCAA will consider jt's resignation as sufficient punishment for his lying. Again, he's gone, nothing further to do to osu (does not include the probability he will be show caused).

Clearly, osu gained a competitive advantage with tressel's lying; I see the NCAA demanding some level of accountability for this.

I also don't see how a substantial amount of football equipment that was subsequently autographed and then sold can be explained away ..... who was accounting for this stuff at osu?

Who was watching the large number of players driving different cars using different plates and different parking registrations? Frankly, this seems to me like a fishing expedition but it lends a clue to the kind of oversight of players by compliance officials.

There is a chance that if osu officials suck enough dick at the COI, they're going to avoid substantial additional penalties that will damage osu beyond the damage already done.

I still see some scholarship reductions, failure to monitor and a 50/50 chance of a post season ban but I'll be surprised if they get hit with LOIC.
