I don't think there's much chance of prying Dunn away from the Schmucks anyway. Hoke may still get a chance to make a pitch to the kid, but I wouldn't be too downhearted if he doesn't get him. There will be other good RB's who want to join up with Hoke and Michigan.

I was too nervous to watch the Red Wings live last night so I recorded it and instead tuned in to the ESPN documentary on the SMU scandal that rocked the football world in the 1980s. It is well done and astounding in its exposure of the depth of depravity of the Dallas culture in those heady days. And it wasn't just SMU; it was all the major Texas schools. The program spends a lot of time on Eric Dickerson and Craig James and the incredible recruiting Russian Roulette that went on to land these premier high school players. It focuses mostly on the corrupt money-driven football-crazed culture that blinded everyone down in that oil rich Texas empire from the governor to college presidents to rich boosters to high school coaches and the insanely obsessed fans. It even infected the sports writers who, once the SMU evidence began to emerge, became insanely competitive in trying to one-up their rivals on getting the story out. The dam broke when an SMU recruit who was lured from Pennsylvania to Dallas was injured and dropped to clip board status on the side lines, and eventally headed back home and began to talk. From then on it was a feeding frenzy.

When I read all the commentary about current OSU situation it doesn't seem to approach this same level of depravity (yet) but the similarities are there and I think we have only seen the tip of the ice berg so far.

Oh yes, I have the Wings on DVR and will enjoy the game relaxed later today.

Latest news is that the $0 car wasn't actually sold for $0. However it WAS sold for about $15K less than blue book value.

I wonder how I could get that deal?

Also of note ...... appears that listing the car as $0 is a way to avoid state sales tax for the buyer and a way for the selling entity to avoid federal taxes on any profits.

State taxing agencies and the IRS are going to be all over this. Why is that important? Both can twist arms. Maybe nothing new in the way of indicting osu will come of it but my sense is that when the pressure is on deals are made, people talk.

good question. I can't recall one.

If the NCAA presidents really want to stop cheating then all its memebers should sign up and agree to the NCAA having more ability to investigate. But nobody really wants that.
