• It doesn't seem very prudent to make comments specifically regarding one investigation that's just barely underway.

    • Agreed. Even so, it's pretty damning at face value.

      • Can OSU worm out claiming a pre-investigation bias tho?

        • I am sorry, but I will buy that O-state will get hit with serious sanctions only after the ink is dry on the ruling.

I will settle for damage to their recruiting and the Vest's reputation to the extent that it helps M.

          • I want Tressel fired. That puts a big red stamp of invalidation on the last 10 years. Not unlike Michigan basketball in the 90s.

You can wish but I doubt it erases the stain of the lack of wins in The Game. The best it does is reset the the clock and level the playing field for future games.

              • But it does leave a question mark over the program for the entire Tressel tenure. A friend of mine who owns a small restaurant once told me that he immediately fires any of his employees whom he catches stealing from him. No second chances. His thought is that by time he catches them, they've probably ripped him off several times before. I think the same principle applies here. What has Tressel done over his tenure that he's NOT admitted to? What "mistakes" has he made that gave him and his team a competitive advantage? What has he covered up in the past that nobody knows about?

I've always felt that something was fishy about Jim Tressel, and the revelations of recent days have confirmed what I've believed all along. And, his tenure will forever be tainted. There will always be a doubt that he did everything fair and square.

                • There has been smoke out of Columbus shortly after Tressel arrived...

Tressel staying imo causes the NCAA to put down far deeper sanctions than if he resigns or is fired. Its too early but if he's kept around, that leads me to think the higher ups were aware of the situation and allowed Tressel to lie to the NCAA twice. Precedence says there is very little chance of Tressel surviving, there are only some coaches and places that could keep a coach like this and JT/osu is one of those.

                  • Always remember that osu is a malevolent, swirling vortex of unchecked evil. It is drawn to its own corrupt core of iniquity, a veritable blackhole for unspeakable horror. The demented minions of the demon Tressel will clutch at the shredded remnants of a tattered sweatervest, pitifuly wailing to their dark lord. Much like the kamikazee or suicidal jihadist, they will cling with mindless abandon to their soulless deity, without regard to the destruction they bring down upon themselves. There may be much angst and gnashing of fangs, but Tressel will be standing on the sideline in 2012. osu's belly slithering syncophants will endure wins vacated, schollie reductions, probation, and bowl ineligibility, but NEVER will they give up their amoral overlord. The NCAA may deliver a well deserved bitchslap, but the focus point of what is the purest of evil shall remain in his place of power and priviledge. Perhaps this is all part of a greater universal balance, that in order for good to exist, it must be contrasted with the likes of osu. Could be that some things are just meant to be.

                            • Yeah, that extra stretching sure gave us the competitive advantage over everyone ... and then .. the NCAA let us play in a bowl game in spite of it all ... shameful

Hanging on by a thread DSL...that was weak . Even 'The Talent' has no more competitive banter on this subject besides rubbing it in about the forth coming loss for M.
