  • We're screenshotting message boards now? And then not only taking issue with what some random internet dude posted but then constructing strawmen to burn?

    Good lord.

But, yes, Ohio State is in shambles. Not much else to say.
Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?
    Brady Hoke: You know.....not....good.

    • I sincerely believe that ohio state will beat Michigan again when they actually play better football than Michigan does.

They have not done that since 2019.

"Cheating" has never been a factor.

I doubt that you really believe that osu is in shambles, but so far in the playoffs, they're actually playing to their team's strength. They may be rewarded with a Natty.

I think I actually posed that question in here some years ago. I asked, "If you could only have one, a win over Michigan, or a Natty, which would you choose? I wonder how many osu fans will want to give back the Natty because they lost to Michigan?

And oh yes, .. fire CRD.

      • I'm not sure the statement "Cheating is not a factor" is true. You can argue what degree the cheating helped...because that is certainly debatable...but to say it has never been a factor?

        Uh...no.

        • Sorry, but nobody has proven that anything that Stallions did, directly affected or changed the outcome of any game that Michigan has played.

When I see evidence that Michigan used information obtained "illegally" by Stallions, (in person video at an opponent's site) and that information turned what should have been a Michigan loss into a Michigan win, then I'll consider believing that "cheating" was involved.

Until then, its all stupid claptrap, driven by jealousy.

Everybody and their grandmother think that the standard for "cheating" is that Michigan stole signs from opponents. Its NOT illegal to steal signs. Its HOW you steal those signs.

Michigan is too cowardly to challenge the NCAA, so I expect that any punishment will be met by acting like a little puppy dog who goes wee wee on himself, then runs to the corner and quivers with fear until he believes the danger is past. This is "Michigan".

I want to see real, actual evidence that on site video changed the outcome of games. The NCAA's standard will be that 1 of 70,000 people had a video camera at a game involving a future Michigan opponent, and they bought their ticket from Stallion's 3rd cousin.

And Michigan will respond, "that's good enough for us".

          • You think it had ZERO impact? Then why was it so clandestine during and after the discovery? Why were people fired?

            • liney....was there "definitive" proof that what SMU did in the 80's gave them wins? You can make an argument as to what degree cheating helps...but it is circumstantial for the most part because we really just don't know what the results would have been without the cheating. But to say there was zero impact simply is not true.

The Stallions firing was an easy sacrifice. He wasn't important to coaching the team, and his exit made it look like Michigan "did something".

I believe two other coaches were fired because they told players to tell the NCAA to shove it. Probably not their best look.

Again, show the proof that the ILLEGAL sign stealing actions affected the outcomes of games. Which game(s)? What plays in which games? In a betting or point shaving scandal, they'll bring out video of players shaving points, or deliberately playing bad. They have proof.

I want to see the same standard applied here. Its time for the NCAA to unzip its fly and show what they've got. Stop talking and produce evidence.

But, I suspect that they'll base their ruling on crybaby and butthurt coaches complaints, who wish they would have thought of the same thing before Stallions did.

                  ===

And a somewhat related subject. I couldn't help but notice during the bowl season how many teams still use hand signals and printed signs in calling plays. They've got microphone helmets, but still many choose to do it manually. Maybe they think they can outsmart Stallions.

                    • Would M have won the title in 2023 without the "cheating"...perhaps. Maybe. Don't know. But to say ZERO impact simply is not true.

                      Let's talk about a certainty...'97 Huskers would have housed '97 M...

Come on, Wiz. You already know the answers.

                        For review:

Harbaugh was suspended for six games (1/2 of a season) for two incidents. The first 3 games was hamburger gate, where he refused to cave to the NCAA's demand that he plead guilty to their charges. The 2nd suspension was because of the bellyaching and butthurt whining of B1G coaches who felt that Harbaugh was guilty of "cheating", so they didn't want to wait for the NCAA's ruling and demanded immediate action. Hypocrites. All of them.

Stallions was an easy dismissal. His being 'banned" from the program lasted until they wanted Underwood. Then Stallions helped make it happen. Underneath the surface, I'd guess that lots of Michigan staffers are privately thanking Stallions for helping get Underwood,, and have no hard feelings toward him.

Partridge was one of the coaches who told players to tell the NCAA to get bent. A good suggestion, but not a good look. He's now coaching in the NFL.

Real evidence. Proof that the "cheating" led to Michigan victories.

And I think it would be an excellent for all these pious institutions of higher learning to throw open their books and let everyone see that they've NEVER done any of the things that M is accused of. I think that would be fair. I'd start with the biggest bellyacher in James Franklin and PSU.
