  • What's "Fansided"? Don't know them nor the author.

In any event, yes -- as I've been saying, Ohio State is in deep, deep, deep trouble. Terrible team and even worse fans.

    • It’s a Midwest sports/entertainment blog. Started by a couple of brothers 20 years ago or so if I had to guess. A guy I know used to write for Fansided Alabama.

It’s not an unknown site but it never really got popular like Barstool or Outkick.

      • Its a link from "Microsoft News", so I suppose it could have come from anywhere.

I just thought it was noteworthy that so many OSU fans have soured so quickly on CRD, and they're giving no chance at all to McCord.

I'm too lazy to look it up, but doesn't CRD actually have a better winning percentage in his first 4-5 years than Urbs did? I get the Michigan hate and the feelings that come with losing to them, but to toss out an excellent coach who is a proven top recruiter, and knows how to coach, .. its weird.

I'm not being snarky, but is it possible that some OSU fans are a bit spoiled by success? Honest question. I'm asking because I think thats where a lot of M fans were in 2000.

        • UFM was 50-4 in his first 4 seasons w/ 3 B10 titles (he wasn't allowed to play in his first season), a BCS title and ginormous choke job against Sparty.

CRD is 42-6 in his first 4 seasons (you could add 6 more wins but for COVID), w/ 2 B10 titles, 3 CFP appearances two bad, bad losses -- like Oregon and M at home. He's also been on the wrong side of some officiating decisions against Clemson and Georgia (completey wrong booth OVERTURNS) that could have transformed his career. Now, they still had their chances to win, so no excuses from me -- but fanbases, being what they are, are always quick to think they got screwed, so that probably helps CRD a little, too.

But to the larger point -- the article is mostly clickbait shit. OSU fans aren't happy that CRD lost twice to M and hasn't won a B10 title in 2 years, but he still has goodwill and trust especially after the painfully close loss to Georgia. I think most fans understand that they had ginormous injury issues on offense last year. He's not on the hotseat.

And there's no way a spring game for McCord means anything. Fuck, man -- "message board fans" hated CJ Stroud after the Oregon loss and especially after the loss at M and especially after the loss at home.

Any article that purports to take the temperature of a fanbase better do more than just take a few moments and extrapolate it out. So, the article is garbage. Fansided is garbage.

Ohio State offensive coordinator Brian Hartline was hospitalized Sunday after being involved in an all-terrain vehicle crash on his property. According to police reports, alcohol was involved in the incident.

Wait! What? Alcohol was involved in an atv accident? No fucking way!

                • Might as well get this in -- thanks in no small party to our late-night not entirely sober ATV racer, Ohio State now tops the 247 Composite recruiting rankings. Of course, Georgia has 1 fewer commit and a higher average recruit rating and Alabama only has 4 verbals, so it won't last. But, for the time being, legendary M-man, Braylon Edwards, is probably not completely right about OSU recruiting.

In case the above isn't clear -- Georgia and Alabama will be 1-2 in some order at the end of the day. Unless a high value big NIL school slips in, but I can't see it. I'd guess Florida/Texas for 3-4, but that's way less certain. Ohio State probably tops the B10 and finishes in the 6-10 range and M is very close behind in the same range.

Cleveland's stadium already needs to be refurbished? I thought it was a fairly new venue.

                        • Yeah, but it has 23 seasons of Browns football on it. It'll take at least 2 full years to adequately fumigate.

                          • It opened in 1999 with the "new" Browns (same as the old Browns). Sounds like they're getting a whole new stadium that will begin construction in 2026 and take 2 years to complete. That's crazy. I hope the city isn't handing over public money to help fund it but I'm sure they will.

                            • 1999, not 1991. The Fake Browns christened the new stadium with a 43-0 loss to the Stillers in a game where they managed to gain 40 yards. In other words, a "Rutger" well-before the term existed. And in the NFL.

It's about 25 years old now. There were mutterings that the team might even demand a brand new stadium.
