Here's a pretty good summation of the difference between Ohio State and M recruiting. When UFM was hired, the class was in dire straits. He miraculously rallied the class to finish #5 overall and best Hoke's stellar 2012 class (which is higher rated than the current M class). When HARBAUGH!!!! was hired, the class was in dire straits and he rallied the class to finish #37 just behind Cal and Texas Tech.
Last year when M had lowish numbers -- HARBAUGH!!!!'s first low numbers class -- finished #22 with 19 commits. This year, when OSU had both another coaching transition AND lowish numbers, Ohio State is sitting at #12 with a mere 16 commits. Meanwhile, when OSU had good numbers and no transition they were killing it with top 3 classes. M, with no transition, a successful season by M standards and gads of numbers, is sitting at #8.
Ohio State's highs are way higher and M's lows are way lower. Even in an absolutely optimal year to destroy OSU on the recruiting trail, M is modestly ahead at best. And, I suppose OSU could add another 3 or 4 3* kids and make it a few points difference.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?
